“Why F-E-A-R Is Affecting the Success Of Your Network Or Direct Marketing Business” Part 1
I was on the phone mentoring an individual and they mentioned to me a statement I hear plenty of times from individuals involved in the network marketing industry. Here is a little bit of the conversation.
Individual-“How do I get people involved in my primary company without chasing and seeming desperate”.
Me-“How did you get involved yourself”
Individual-“I went to a home tasting party by a friend, I liked the product so I joined.”
I thought to myself if she joined through a friend why was she uncomfortable with applying that same approach in her business. (What Would You Think?)
Individual-“I am scared and uncomfortable with the approach of chasing friends and family”
My guess is that there was some back and forth, and some pulling and tugging before she ended up finally giving in. Do not get me wrong chasing friends and family, cold calling, prospecting does work for some but even for them it is a long and strenuous process.
The individual mentioned to me a word the we all face one time or another in our different business endeavours whether network or direct marketing, and even in our daily lives.
F-E-A-R
F-AILURE- This is one thing no matter what you do in life we all want to avoid. No One enjoys this feeling but will all have to face it. In fact it is possible that we will fail in something today. You might not get the results you were expecting in your network or direct marketing business, you might not sign up any one or sale anything, but when you look it up in the dictionary you have to past FAILURE before you get to FREEDOM. I likened the network marketing industry to a hurdle race. Some hurdles you might jump clear over, some hurdles you might barely miss, some you might trip over and fall, but you must keep your focus on your goal which is to keep going until you reach the finish line of financial freedom.
E-VOLVE- In order to succeed in network marketing or life in general, you must be open to positive change. Some time people do not move forward because they are afraid of change and what that change might do to things around them. Products change, needs and wants of people change, systems change, but most importantly you must be willing to make positive change in your business and mindset. I am not referring to jumping from one company to the other. One pre launch to the next. It should not be Xango last month, Monavie this month, Evolv next month. Stick with a good company and grow with them. You must be a lifetime student and continue to learn and educate yourself on steps, systems, and processes that will help you continually grow the business of YOU!
A-PPROACH- This is a fear of many network marketers that I come across, the approach and delivery of their product and company to potential customers or distributors. Most people are cautious on how they approach people about their network marketing business for fear of backlash. There are worried about feedback such as,
“Is this another one of those scams?”
“What kind of pyramid scheme have you got yourself involved in?”
“How much does this cost, Is This Free” and many more...
If you are hunting for prospects this is the type of questions you will get. Your approach should be focused on individuals who are familiar with your nature of business not those who look at you like are trying to give them the swine flu.
R-EJECTION-All network marketers face this, it does not matter if you have been doing it for 30 years or 30 days. Many people have left the industry because they have not learned to turn Rejection into Results. I am not here to paint some rosy picture, even roses have thorns, because most people you come in contact with online or offline will not appreciate or accept your business but if you learn the process of having them appreciate you and the value you offer you will stand a better chance of not being a one hit wonder but continual and repeat success. 90% will not accept your business, the question is do you have a system in place to benefit from the 90% of people who reject and say no to your business but yes to you.
