But the frog still would not turn into the hero-prince of her network marketing dream team, leading it to new heights.  Instead, he remained a frog.  End of story.

Are you chasing that one person that you think is going to bring your business to new heights? Based on years of experience I can tell you to not waste your time.  There are no perfect prospects out there.

As a matter of fact, you should develop your own system for weeding out the good, the bad and the ugly leads you are following up on.  I am not referring to physical attributes but by observing certain characteristics you can pretty much judge whether that prospect will be an asset or liability to your team.  And, more specifically, whether or not that person warrants your spending the time and effort working with him/her.

Here are a few of the categories I use:

>The “Woe Is Me”.  This person will spend your time telling you of all the financial, personal, physical problems he/she has.  Yet you can present your business opportunity until the cows come home and this person usually never gets in.  They don’t care about making their situation better in life, they care about talking to you and your having pity on them.  Move on, let them enjoy their own pity party.

>The “Innovator”. This person will ramble on about everything that they feel needs changing with YOUR network marketing company.  Sometimes these people sign up and from that very moment they try to makeover the business in THEIR image and likeness rather than the other way around.

> The “I’ll Do It My Way”.  This person is probably stressed with financial pressures and will ask for your advice to start and rapidly grow the business.   Then this person joins your business contrary to the rapid-growth, sign-up plan you suggest and is therefore doomed to an extremely slow growth, if that.

>The “Mr./Ms. Congeniality”.  This person keeps talking about how he/she knows EVERYONE and will sign-up EVERYONE into their business.  Two months after Mr./Ms. Congeniality joins your business he/she will have quit and never sponsor ANYONE.

The bottom line, my networking marketing princess, instead of wasting your time repeatedly kissing that one frog, hoping for a princely transformation, my suggestion is that you start interviewing new frogs, er, prospects.  With one and a half billion of them currently on the internet, chances are in your favor that over time you will find a few network marketing heroes…and live happily ever after.
