Choosing The Best MLM Compensation Plan - The Two Staircases
Imagine yourself standing at the foot of two staircases. At the top of each staircase is a fat envelope full of checks for you and your family. The checks are for $10000 each, dated month after month after month.
You must choose the staircase to climb to collect the checks. The staircase on the left is made of 2800 steps, while the one on the right is made of 400 steps.
Which one do you choose to climb?
Silly question, right? You'd obviously climb the right staircase, as you'd be doing less work for the same reward!
We can use the same thinking when choosing the best MLM compensation plan. If we want to earn $10000 per month, we have to find a bunch of people to join us in our business. But how big is that bunch? This is where the 10k question comes in.
How many people do I need on my team to generate a walkaway residual income of $10000 per month?
Most respectable companies require from 2000 to 4000 people spending about $150 per month. The answers we have collected range from as high as 28000 to a low of about 400. That means that if you are working in a company that requires 2800, you are working 7 times harder than you have to in order to achieve your financial goals.
It also means that the people joining you will be working seven times harder than THEY have to. That's how we spell A-T-T-R-I-T-I-O-N, and you could really be working 49 times harder than you have to. It's not an experiment we'd choose to carry out!
Hold on ... yes we did! We failed for five long frustrating expensive years in a well known company, only to find out much later that their answer to the 10k question was 10000! That meant we were working 25 times harder than we had to! No wonder people left us before they got started, and no wonder we thought we failed! We blamed ourselves, when in fact the compensation plan did not reward us for our efforts.
It would be like climbing a 10000 step staircase when we could have chosen a 400 step staircase. Or like choosing a job at $2 per hour when we could have been doing the same thing at $50 per hour!
If you are struggling in your network marketing business, don't be so quick to blame yourself. It's true that we all need the skills to succeed, but take a moment to calculate your 10k answer. You owe it to yourself and to those you are inviting to join you in your business. No one would start a job without knowing the salary, and no one should join a network marketing company without knowing the answer to the 10k question.
There's more info in the article "A Question We Should Ask" , and this handy 10k Calculator that will help you calculate how hard you are working!

I know now what staircase to use. Thanks to Bob & Anna Bassett
Thank you for explaining this very important topic, that most marketers need to read and be aware how important their comp plan and P&Ps are. Bob and Anna are the best of the best when it comes to P&P's and Comp Plans. Their Website has so much value, You should visit it and sign up for their report. I have and every report gives so much value. Bob and Anna, understanding comp plans can be so confusing and overwhelming, but you make it very comprehensible to understand and I am grateful for you two and your knowledge and understanding of these important pillars to success. Thank you.
I know What I would do
That may not be for everyone but I want the one with the least amount of Stairs. The 1st 5 people are the hardest to sponsor. So why make it so that the next 100 are just as hard as the 1st 5. If you know your comp Plan you can decide what is going to be easier for you. I'll take the 400. Thanks Bob and Anna
The Choice Is Obvious !
Great Information Bob and Anna,
The choice is quite obvious,
Not only will I have more energy from climbing less steps,
I will also save alot more time as well, which means I will have more time to spend all that money I am making with my family.
Thanks!
Thanks to Therese, Juanita, and Steve!
You guys make great points. We wonder if comp plans are made confusing on purpose. They are certainly more complicated than "$20 per hour" or "$50000 per year."
If we join a company with a puny pay plan, we may not discover it for a year or two, and then wonder where our team went! I like the idea of choosing the fewest steps, and inviting others to do the same.
Just imagine what you can do with that money and left over energy!
Thanks again.
