Flipping A Network Marketing No Into A Not Yet (And Then To A Yes)

If you have been in network marketing for more than a day, you know that you have received (and will receive) your share of no’s to your business opportunity.  I was trained years ago that a no is simply a not yet.

The person may be in the middle of a busy work week,  Or he/she might be overwhelmed with family duties.  Perhaps your potential new recruit has just had a battle with their spouse over whether or not to get involved in another network marketing business.

Whatever prompted the no, accept it as a not yet.  Move on to others but maintain some sort of contact with your “no”.  Send an occasional email.  If you spot an article that you feel would be interest, send it to him/her with a note that you thought of them when you read the article.

In essence you are keeping yourself in front of them…building the YOU brand in their eyes.  This makes it easy for them to think of you as a caring person so that when they are ready to seriously consider a business opportunity it will be yours.

A case of “not yet” happened to me with one of our children.  I am involved with a comp plan that benefits those I personally sponsor and those I place under the personally sponsored.  I presented the opportunity to our four grown children: 2 got in, 2 said no.  About a week ago, I heard from one of my family “no’s” who moved to Orlando this past January during our snow season (who can blame him, right?).  Anyway, he called and said he had just heard of a perfect “network marketing pyramid scheme” that I should get in right away.  (My son, my “no” reverse recruiting me!!!)   He was pumped having just heard Hulk Hogan being interviewed by one of the Orlando radio stations.    Apparently Hogan said that he was with a juice company and got out of that to get into a coin mlm program.  But when he found this vitamin program, he dropped out of the coin collecting and is now promoting a vitamin program.  (The announcer, according to my son, gave Hogan a little jab because Hogan got him involved with the coins and, in spite of not being active, still gets a coin a month.)

So, my son, the no to my business, is now interested in getting into this “network marketing pyramid scheme” business which I look at as a positive.  I am sure this will whet his appetite for future opportunities and his “vitamin” upline will provide great training.

Bottom line, my son, the no, has moved to a not yet status in my eyes.  Once again, proving that we should always maintain good communication with our no’s because you never know when they will turn into a yes.
