How to Sponsor Up, Not Down

In a forum, I recommended that you should sponsor up and not down when recruiting for your network marketing company. The question then came up on exactly how to sponsor up. I thought I would write this article with some steps to do that. Now there is much more to sponsoring up then what I have listed here. I think this is a good start for someone who wants to bring their sponsoring to the next level.

1. You must be willing to do what others aren't doing.

· Get on the phone and talk to people. Yes......Building your network marketing business starts with you on the phone talking to live people. There is no way to get around this so the more comfortable you are on the phone the better your chances are of reeling in the big fish.

· The people you call must be Network Marketers. They are your target market. Don't waste your time calling family and friends or opportunity seekers. You are looking for people who already have demonstrated they believe in network marketing.

· When you are talking with Network Marketers, be affable, create an affinity with them. This is the most important part. (If you don't know the meaning of affable and affinity, look them up in the dictionary.)

· Keep a list of those who you speak with. Network Marketing Companies go out of business, people change focus and sometimes network marketers will join more then one company if they think it will financially benefit them.

1. You must create an Internet Presence.

· Register your first and last name if you haven't already. If it is taken then be creative by using who is or your middle initial or success with before your name.

· On your page you must have an opt-in form where your visitors can sign up for something that you are offering for free. Make sure it is double opt-in don't give away your information without them confirming their email address. That will just devalue your position.

· Your internet presence should include at minimum a photo of you; video is good, your phone number and a brief description of where you are from and what you can offer. Only one paragraph because the rest of the page should be focused on what the reader can obtain or become and what is in it for them.

1. You need to know your other leaders in your current company as well as other companies and community leaders.

· Attend the live events that your company has and if possible other company's business briefings in your area. Don't be shy, make friends, and get business cards. This will help build your network of people.

· Attend the live workshops your company has or generic success building seminars. This will introduce you to other like minded individuals.

· Be on the live calls and webinars take notes on the names of the leaders then search the internet for their web page and phone number.

· Join your chamber of commerce in your town. Mix and mingle with other business people in your area. This could be one of the most important strategies that are being overlooked. 

What I listed above is just to get you started. I could go into much more detail on each number and bullet point but I don't want to make this article so long that it bores you. Just remember that building a network marketing company takes time. Success is a journey and just like a newborn baby you first need to crawl before you can walk. You need to walk before you run and in network marketing you are in a marathon not a race. You must be willing to be in it for the long hall. Sponsoring up takes a certain amount of skill and I wouldn't recommend a brand new person jump into this without the proper education and experience.

Always remember that birds of a feather flock together. The big whales in the industry eat little fish. You must be perceived as a confident networker and serious business person otherwise you will be eaten. The big fish aren't caught in the pond with a little rod and reel and some bait. They are a challenge. They need to be sought after, followed, harpooned and ultimately brought into your net and along side your ship so you can bring them ashore to reap the harvest.
