I have my capture pages, drip system and blog...nothing's working WHAT NOW?
OK- You made yourself "the product"....You have your lead capture pages all built, your email drip system in place, your blog and video marketing is all set up.
But....IT'S NOT WORKING! What's wrong?
Well, the easy and mean answer is ...it's YOU. But that doesn't help when no solution is given.
Growing up I remember them putting an emphasis in school on my IQ. My intelligence- my ability to problem solve was of highest importance. But in this new world we live in, this world that is over-communicated...a NEW intelligence is also needed. Instead of your IQ, we need to develop your EQ- or emotional intelligence.
To make this simple for you, I will call this your social skills. With the rise of social networks, social media and networking in general, our social skills are the most important skill set we can develop.
Let's face it, even if we are doing internet marketing- in the long run- those marketing tools simply help us connect with more and more people relationally. I STILL NEED TO TALK TO PEOPLE AND GET BELLY TO BELLY WITH THEM. Internet marketing doesn't replace that, it simply allows us the opportunity to do that with more people.
So if you're getting more leads, but not converting them, we need to look at your social skills. I will be doing an extensive webinar on this soon, but for now let's look at 2 tips.
Self Inventory- before you go into a meeting or a phone call, take your own inventory and assess what you are operating out of. Are you scared? frustrated? calm? Recognize what you are projecting before you make your connection. I had two people call me the other day sharing an opportunity- I didn't do either one, but I did engage with them because I always want to encourage people trying to change things for themselves.
The first person said all the right things (a well designed script), but I emotionally couldn't wait to get them off the phone...why? Their emotions were clearly projected. They were scared and uncomfortable. So instead of being drawn by their good script, I was repelled by the forced nature of their emotional tone.
The second person really didn't even use a script, but they were so upbeat, relaxed and fun to talk to, we chatted for a good 5 or 6 minutes. Now that's a long time for me because I am busy, but when I connect with someone like that, it's like a brief vacation.
Evaluate Surroundings- Even though there are great systems and scripts out there- you still need to evaluate your surroundings. I did a meeting for someone where they wanted me to share a business insider's perspective talking about my research into my company and the amazing connections that I have with the founders and key people throughout the country as well as the amazing financial growth I have experienced. So I was prepared to do that until I saw my surroundings.
I could tell that the people in the room were in no way ready to hear my message. So instead, I asked them questions about why they were there. One person was there because they were told to be there, two others were there because they were competitors and were ready to counteract anything I had to say. Needless to say, I didn't have an audience. So I turned the table around and asked them questions about what they truly cared about and were passionate about. All of a sudden, the room atmosphere completely changed because they were valued. In a few days, after some one on ones and relationship building, all 3 were added to our team. (the rest of the people in the room were cared for as well with a presentation and I got those people out of the room that first day so they wouldn't distract further)
These skills can be learned and are essential in this relational business. I will have a detailed webinar on this and much more coming soon.
