Three Real Causes Why People Fail in Network Marketing and MLM

Why is it that so many people get involved and so few people actually make it big?   Why do some people have explosive results and success in their business while others just struggle and struggle? Are there any real causes? The answer is absolutely yes.

There are very specific reasons, or causes, for all the failures in any Network Marketing, or Multi-Level, and even Direct Sales endeavors. Everything happens for a reason, including the failures, and you can easily turn it around for yourself and the others that you influence.

One of the single biggest reasons is just plain listening, and following, really bad advice. So many people in Network Marketing and MLM just blindly follow the poor advice of their up-lines and are simply destined for failure because of it. The seemingly age-old policy of making a list of all their family and friends, or "warm market" is a sure-fire recipe for discouragement and defeat. Once an individual has alienated, or 'bugged' everyone that they know, usually with no real success, they then are instructed to buy contacts, or cold market leads. This produces more disastrous results, which leads to the first main cause for failure.

FAILURE CAUSE #1
People simply are not going after true 'targeted' leads. Most family and friends are not looking to buy from you, or start a business with you, and are simply not good prospects for either. Then going out and buying a batch of untargeted, uninterested leads will cause more discouragement and further frustration. If you want an absolute enthusiasm killer, try asking someone to start "hitting the phones" and attempting to recruit or sell that way. Ask yourself, "How would I react if someone called me with that pitch?" It's a total waste of time. The only, I repeat, the only way, you will ever quickly and profitably build a business, online or otherwise, is to focus on attracting and targeting people who already have a true interest in what you are offering- plain and simple. You must utilize the keys for targeted leads.

FAILURE CAUSE #2
Let's face reality- people like to buy, they never like to be sold. They want to make the decision on their own by 'discovering' the benefit for themselves. So many MLMs or Network Marketing companies are misguided, and also misguiding their people into shoving their opportunity or products in the face of anybody and everybody (as if they are going to jump all over it) Talk about having the horse and the cart in the wrong order!

The most critical key in marketing has always been, and always will be, the principle of finding out what someone wants or needs and then simply providing it- showing a solution. If you want to be a successful marketer, don't try to convince that the need exists for something. Find the need and then provide that something. This is a small, but crucial distinction that yields enormously different results.

FAILURE CAUSE #3
And the third cause for failure, and it's a major one, is the lack of leveraging. Most people have heard the term leverage but the fact is that most don't know what having leverage really means. In the business world- in simple terms- it means doing work, or doing something once, but getting the results, or the reward that the work yields over and over again. When I worked as an insurance manager, we received residuals revenues for policy payments. We used the illustration of a plumber installing a toilet and then being paid for years every time anyone flushed that toilet. Or a real estate agent selling a home, and then being paid for years every time the front door was opened and closed.

That's real leverage and it can be achieved in so many ways if you are positioned in properly designed business models. The principle is so incredibly powerful, and so incredibly rewarding, that when you finally do apply it, you'll wonder... you may even get angry... you'll think of all the time you've wasted without it.
