Top 9 Tips to Build a Network Of Value
Meeting people can happen everywhere you go, formal networking events, social gatherings, functions, standing in line at the store, childrens activities , online ect.
Creating new contacts of value does not just happen it is something one must pursue, it is a skill we must constantly strive to perfect. It goes beyond collecting business cards like child collects baseball cards. You can memorize all their names and where they work but are they truly a valuable network?
To build a Network of value follow these simple tips
1. Set a Goal (add new people everyday to your network) and meet with people already in your network every week.
2. Be curious ask questions, what do you do for work, where do you live, where does your spouse work, Is that a log commute ect.
3. Get a business card and if they don't have one write their information on one of your cards and give another card to them.
4. Immediately write everything down about them.
5. Put all this information in your contact manager.
6. Review your Network religiously and look for "reasons" to contact people or share information. Be creative.
7. Set up short appointments over coffee to get to know them better and see what you can do to help them.
8. Search people out on the Social Networks and invite them to be friends, connections, followers ect.
9. And Remember a stranger is just a person waiting to become a friend
