Who is Your Avatar and Why Must You Get Inside Their Head?

"Avatar" is the word used to describe your PERFECT CUSTOMER.

It is your avatar who you are marketing to - the person who has the problem that you are going to solve with your product, services or opportunity. It seems easy at first.." Oh yeah, my perfect prospect is someone how wants to work from home in health and wellness."

Bad Answer.

"OK, my perfect prospect is a mom who wants to stay home with her kids and make money."

BEEP BEEP BEEP

Sorry. Not your avatar. That could be a piece of your avatar picture, but not even close to the whole salami.

Why Do You Need to Know Your Avatar in a Deep Personal Way?

Because the only way you can touch the emotional concerns and triggers of your avatar in your marketing, is if you know who they are. It's that simple and that profound.  Ultimately, the person who buys your product or joins your opportunity does not do it because of  your comp plan or your green energy powder or your reduced electric costs. They join with you or purchase from you because you have touched a nerve in them You have to acknowlege their pain and provided a solution that they feel will work for them on a gut, emotional level. There is no way you can do that consistently with good conversions if you don't actually get inside the head of your avatar.

So How Do You Get  Inside Your Avatar's Head?

You do so by going through the Avatar exercise. The avatar exercise was taught to me in a workshop a few years ago. I took it, modified it a bit and re-created it so that it works well as a facilitated exercise.

I have used this exercise in recorded and live form with many different types of clients with whom I consult. It never ceases to be an "Ah- Ha" experience. I know it will be the same for you, and that is why it is offered for no charge. Once you go through the exercise the first time and get clear in your notes, do it again. You can have multiple avatars and each one can be used to develop a very specific and targeted marketing campaign for your business.

My suggestion is to create an avatar flow chart with campaigns branching off from each avatar description that you develop through the exercise. Since each campaign should eventually become it's own targeted marketing funnel, beginning in this manner will help you keep things clear and allow space for the full funnel to unfold.
