Write Your Ticket for Life

Good copy attracts. It tells. It sells.

It’s what can make or break your business.

If you learn to copywrite well, you can write your ticket for life.

How Do I Learn to Copywrite?

Copywriting is a skill. And a talent. It’s not easy, and there is no formula.

Sure, there are techniques. But you need to be more concerned with the overall effect than the details.

Why? Good copywriting sometimes breaks the rules. Actually, often breaks the rules.

The ultimate test of good copywriting is the results that it brings. Or not.

The best advice? Find a good copywriter if you can’t do it yourself. It’s that important. With anything worth investing in—like your business—you need to invest in it!

Still want to try it yourself?

Follow these tips for better than average copywriting. Just be sure to have at least 2 other people look at it before it goes out!

•    Think Before You Type

Don’t just start writing.

You need to ask yourself a few questions first, even do some research.

The most important: What do your products do that will make people want to buy them?

List all the reasons. Be specific. Go with the strongest. That’s your central message. Work the others in as you see fit.

•    Use an Attention Grabbing Headline

Your strongest message belongs in your headline.
You need to grab attention there. If you don’t, people won’t read the rest.

Let me give you an example. Say you’re offering a product that benefits people financially. Do you say:

“My Product Helps Fix Your Finances”

That’s not bad. You’re leading with a strong benefit. Now let’s make it stronger:

“Fire Your Boss and Finally Achieve the Financial Freedom You Deserve”

That’s better. It’s more dramatic. At one point or another, everyone has probably wanted to fire a boss. So people can relate to that!

And achieving financial freedom is stronger than fixing your finances.

But the copy could be even stronger:

“Fire Your Boss—Let Me Show You How to Earn 6 Figures a Year Working for Yourself”

Anytime you can put specifics in, you’ve got a stronger message.

But, hey, you also need to be truthful about those earnings claims! So “financial freedom” might be the winner in this case.

The bottom line? A strong headline can give you a hot prospect.

•    Stay Focused on the Prospects

You started strong. Stay strong.

Don’t lose the reader by not keeping them interested.

How can they lose interest?

Going into too much detail about the features of the product. Not continuing to relate to the reader.

And then there’s not being reader friendly, which brings me to my next point.

•    Be Reader Friendly

Use short sentences. Keep your paragraphs short. Break the copy up into sections.

And use bullets, bolding, highlighting, and subheads to keep the reader going.

No one wants to tackle a long block of text.

•    Use a Compelling Call to Action

Don’t forget to close with a call to action. And a way for them to respond.

“Call now for a free trail. 1-800-xxx-xxxx.” Or “Enter your email address below to receive a free report on xxx.” Or “Click here to buy now.”

Sounds like a no-brainer, right? Good, then you won’t leave it off!

If you follow these tips, you’re on your way to copywriting that works.

Remember that copywriters spend their whole lives honing their craft. So don’t be afraid to outsource this vital part of your business to a talented copywriter.

Yes, it costs. But good copywriting pays!
