The Fray Band is into Network Marketing

Last night I was browsing my set of TV Series DVDs because I was bored. I thought maybe I should watch some of my favorite series and spend the night away watching. Then I saw Grey's Anatomy, and I thought that this would be a good time to catch up with the episodes that I missed. So I slipped the disc in and started browsing for episodes. Then I saw this particular episode where Meredith discovers Dr. Shepherd's marriage. Mrs. Shepherd stepped into the scene for the very first time. You probably already know how the story went. But while I was watching, I discovered that a known band The Fray was into Network Marketing. The Fray had actually experienced the hardest episodes of their network marketing lives and they wrote all about it. If you would allow me, I'd like to paste a song The Fray wrote. Lyrics were captured from LyricsMania.com.

Lyrics of How To Save A Life by The Fray:
Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came

CHORUS:
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

CHORUS:
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

CHORUS:
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

CHORUS:
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life
How to save a life

CHORUS:
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

CHORUS:
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life

Alright, you got me there, perhaps The Fray Band never really did Network Marketing. But you gotta admit, the song lyrics are so Network Marketing. Grab a popcorn or hotdog then let's read the stanzas and dissect them. I'll give you a few minutes to think about the lyrics then get back here...

See what I mean? The stanzas alone show us how recruiting can go really really wrong. And the way The Fray wrote them, it's really like they experienced the very worst of recruiting when you try to recruit family, friends and colleagues. If those people won't be interested in your opportunity, you'll really end up looking outside the window. What's worse, you'll end up losing a friend. All you want is to save their lives, but you end up losing them instead. You know how much that hurts.

So what's the lesson here?

Well:

1. Network Marketing is a way of life. It doesn't matter what you do, it doesn't matter what you think, somewhere in your life Network Marketing applies to you, applies to your friend. You just saw how network marketing was applied to a song.

2. If you want to avoid the pain of recruiting, you don't recruit to family, friends and colleagues. You do your own thing and you show them how you do it. Let them come to you when you are ready and when you have captured their interest.

3. If you believe in Network Marketing, you'll see how much it applies to anything in life. I never realized songs can be interpreted into a network marketer's life until last night. Network Marketing isn't suppose to be that hard if you look at it like a huge part of your life.

Let's read the chorus again for the benefit of reminding you how bad it could get when you do recruiting wrong:

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life

Remember those and avoid the pain.

Lastly, just for gags, I am really looking for people to share my last song syndrome. Nyahaha!

{Singing to the tune of How to Save a Life}
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
How to save a life
