The Myth of Duplication

Read More: Sponsoring and Recruiting

This article sets out to explode the myth that you can duplicate the success of your Sponsor. It's based on years of research and hours of reading self development books and waching hour after hour of training webinars. At the end of this article you will know the true meaning of duplication.

David Schwartz in his classic The Magic of Thinking Big in the 1950's was asked to look into why 75% of an Insurance company's sales were achieved by the top 25% salesmen? Does that question sound familiar? It should because in your opportunity, irrelevant of what the product or service is, the same statistic holds true.

Ah but I hear you cry, "My opportunity says if I do this and that and follow x and y I can expect to be a top producer". My reply, sorry big shock on the way. On average 75% of people in network marketing Sponsor 2.3 people into their opportunity before they give up. Notice I said "give up" as opposed to fail. If they were failing they would still be trying. The fact they stopped means they were a quitter.

So if duplication is the answer and we assume they followed what their Sponsor said, Why does our industry have the highest rate of quitters bar none? If the same rate of loss happened in any other industry there would be investigations, newspaper stories, heck it would be all over TV. So why no bad publicity for us? Simple people like to keep quiet about quitting. They just wipe their mouth slink away and move on.

I believe the myth is in based in a misunderstanding of the term duplication. Many people think duplication means doing literally what a top earner does and they will succeed. Slight problem there, they have more resources than you and have dominated that approach, so you will always play catch up.

Anyone here going to put there hand up and say they sare going to match Mike Dillard by doing exactly what he did? You may earn a decent living following his advice but to duplicate him you will have to write a better Magnetic Sponsoring.

My take on this. Duplication is about watching how the top earners operate, examine their thought processes and how they spot a hole in the market or a new way to use Twitter. Then go away, be creative and come up with your unique way to get to the top taking what they have learned and adding your own special something to it.

Trust me the top 25% earners in your opportunity threw away the standard way to do things on day one, they just never publicly admitted it. Because they are now in the the top 25% your opportunity is only to happy for them to trailblaze. So sure watch those training videos but costantly ask yourself, OK now how can I take that and make it my own? Go forth and create plenty.

The Myth of Duplication

You are so right. Thank you for the statistical information. Your one statement, "be creative", says it all. WE need to stay off of the plane of "COMPETIVENESS" and stay on the plane of 'CREATIVITY" When you hear some of these individuals saying they made so much money many times has resulted in them moving large networks over to a company not starting from scratch.

In order to be "SUCCESSFUL" one must do things a "CERTAIN WAY". When you are "CREATIVE" you don't have to "BE LIKE ANYONE" just "BE YOURSELF". When you do this then the WORLD would benefit from the "UNIQUENESS" that GOD has put in all of us.

MLM really gives us the opportunity to impact change in more ways then one.
