Tim Sales MLM Training – MLM Is Supposed To Be Suitable For Anybody. What Do You Think?
I had a very interesting conversation with a network marketing distributor recently and it may help you determine which prospects are right for your MLM business.
The main thrust of the conversation is this distributor’s concern that her company’s products are seen to be too expensive and that some of her very good prospects who are facing a financial crisis and coming from a mid-class society think the distributor’s company is not suitable for them. Her comment to me was “Somehow, I have to believe that MLM is supposed to be suitable for anybody. What do you think?”
Well, I wholeheartedly believe that multi-level marketing is suitable for anyone. MLM or network marketing is a huge, highly profitable and exciting industry. However, different products and product ranges are not suitable for everyone.
Let’s look at why that is the case.
Product groups or categories
Many of you will have heard of the term niche marketing or niche products.
Take the example where, let’s say your particular network marketing company sells women’s cosmetics and you get a lead from a prospect who has spent his whole working life servicing cars. It is highly unlikely that this will be suitable because the niche, what you’re actually selling, that prospect really can’t familiarize themselves with it. They can’t get comfortable with it. So that would be a category niche and your product and your business are not going to be a good fit for that prospect.
Product quality niches
The word quality actually means “fit for purpose”. Continuing with the theme of women’s cosmetics, where some ladies will be very happy with purchasing low prices items others believe that they have to buy the most expensive items from the most expensive outlets to get the quality they are after.
Equally, where some will insist that you have to buy a BMW or Mercedes to get a quality car, others will happily buy a Ford because it is fit for their purpose.
So, the niche that your particular product has, there is a group of people who will buy those products, and there is a group of people who will feel comfortable selling that kind of product because it’s expensive or it’s cheap. Some network marketing companies will go to great lengths to emphasize that they have a cheaper version or a cheaper product. So the niche of people that you are going to attract into that are going to be those people who are always looking for the cheapest price or a bargain.
Equally, if you sell very expensive cosmetics, there are people more than willing to pay high prices because they want that quality. So, yes, while I believe that network marketing or multi-level marketing is for everyone, I also believe that particular product lines are not for everyone.
