Sunrise, Sunsets, or How I Learned to Love Rejection
The business presentation ends, the home party wraps up, excitement flavors the air. Smiles and handshakes, starry-eyed dreamers with million-dollar checks in their near future. It is days later, sometimes only hours, when those starry-eyes break, crack, and drift away like the fragile dream they had created.
Sounds depressing? There is no need for it to be.
I'm Feeling Great, 255 People Said No to Me Today.
The most damaging tool in our industry is hype. It brings people in, we can get two weeks out of them on the average, but then they are gone. Where do they go? They are still here... spreading ideas of MLM not working, of it being a scam, or my favorite one "You have to actually work it to make it successful."
Why use hype, when you can use business savvy?
Tell them how it is, if they work hard, if they have the desire, and will do consistent actions towards making those desires real, then they will become the next millionaire in the company. They will be the shining star, the new sunrise for the people just getting in and realized maybe their day had not yet set afterall.
Each rejection is like a little blessing when handled right. It will build your armor. It will build your desire. Never let it get to you. If 255 people said no to you, say that is interesting but there are 255 people over here all looking for something to.
Trust me, this world has no shortage of people.
Batting 3 out of 10
If you can talk to 10 people and get 1, you are going to be a rockstar a few hundred down the road. You will get better as you practice and retain skills, soon you will be getting 2 out of 10. That is a 100% increase, companies would die to have that. (And sometimes they do in attempt.)
Once you become a professional network marketer, you will be getting 3 out of 10. This will be about as good as it gets. If you ever get 4 out of 10, tell me, I would love to hear how!
In baseball if you hit 3 homeruns out of 10, they will pay you millions. Guess what.
So will network marketing.
Sunrise, Sunsets, and Some Say
The days rise and they set and nothing is going to change that. Like the analogy, we are cannot convince people to join us in our opportunity or to get onto our product. They must have a want already to buy. And it is okay if that want is still waiting to appear in them. Most who say no to you will become yeses later down the road.
There is a saying I hear often in my company, one that I love. When you are out prospecting, remember, "Some say yes, some say no, I say so what?"
Whether they say yes or no has no relevance when it comes to determination. Even if you are a recrutiing machine, somewhere in your downline there will be someone who needs real mindset training.
It is important than to emotionally detach yourself in your prospecting. Still have enthusiasm, just remember through the rejections, it is just business.
Your prospects really are not people who all day have been longing to personally tear you down. (Though some may sound like it.)
