Autoresonders And Online MLM Lead Generation: Why You Should Use An Autoresponder

Having and using an autorepsonder is a cornerstone of your MLM lead generation marketing and setting up your own autoresponder system is the first step in mastering online lead generation.  

What Is An Autoresponder?

An autoresponder is a system that allows you to capture a lead’s contact information-this is the little box, called an opt-in box, asking for your name, email and other information-when they visit your site. With their email address you can then begin to communicate with them.

My friend, Diane Hochman, calls this process the “4 ‘C’s”. The ‘4 Cs’ are:

1. Collect
2. Capture
3. Communicate
4. Close

You can certainly do this one on one, face to face, but by using the internet you can leverage your marketing and explode your business. I’ll tell you how an autoresponder will help you with this process...

If you are part of an affiliate program or part of a marketing system that is helping you grow your MLM or network marketing business you probably have one or more corporate replicated websites associated with your program. These sites usually have some kind of capture mechanism, an opt-in box, but unless they are going to your personal autoresponder they are almost worthless.

No matter which company you represent, remember that it boils down to YOU. People buy from people and it doesn’t matter how well established your product is, how long the company has been around or how many millions have found success using the product or service, people buy from people and the rapport and trust you build will close the sale.

A big percentage of your first conversations with a prospect will result in “be-backs”, as in “I’ll be back to you on that”. A be-back is a non-confront-or a way for a person to say no without saying no. What they are usually saying is “Not now because I don’t understand yet” or “Not now because I’m not sure I can trust you” or something else along those lines.

When your contact opts-in to one of those pre-fabricated affiliate or corporate website pages that don’t link to your own personal autoresponder you set yourself up to get one shot at them. They see your replicated capture page (the same one every other distributor in your company has) and, if you get that far, they have a conversation with you on the phone.

If they aren’t a hyper-buyer and you are not a skilled closer, they will slip through your fingers. If your corporate replicated website does have some kind of autoresponder system set up it’s unlikely that you have any control over it and, as a rule, the folks who write those autoresponder campaigns still haven’t figured out the difference between a feature and a benefit and stuff all kinds of corporate techno-speak into their emails.

Let me put it to you this way: Did you try your friend’s recommendation for that restaurant because he told you the restaurant only used only the freshest ingredients, cook only in canola oil and only buy free-range chickens or did you go because he told you the food was delicious and the service was great?

When people don’t buy it's because they really don’t need what you have, they don’t understand the offer or they don’t trust you. Using an autoresponder and thoughtful copy writing can help overcome all of the obstacles mentioned here.

Don’t get me wrong, you should ask for the sale. Nothing happens until a sale is made. But there is a right way and a much less effective way (notice I didn’t say ‘wrong’ way. If you throw enough crap at the wall some of it is going to stick). Chances are, you have been taught the less effective way.

Using an autoresponder with a well-crafted campaign and sincere personal communication will build lasting relationships and build your business. If you are considering using the internet in any way for your MLM and network marketing, your first step is an autoresponder.
