Using Google Alerts To Get Backlinks

• You will need the keywords which you want to target or track. Make sure they are relevant to the content on your website or the page / post / article, etc which you will be backlinking to.

• In Google Alerts set up an alert for these keywords.

You will want to find websites where you can place your url, so set the search query to Discuss or Blogs, as they provide the opportunity for interaction.

Google will go off and return all recent websites which contain the keywords which you are interested in.

• Some of these will be forums. Forums are great because you can add your signature to them. In your signature you can put your url (in most cases as anchor text).

Have a look at the threads / discussion in the forums and respond to the ones which you feel you can offer the most value.

The added bonus here is not only will you get a backlink, you will also have the opportunity to establish yourself as an expert in your field, branding you! Excellent.

• Do the same with any Blog posts which are returned. View the content and leave a value packed comment.

If you have the Google Tool Bar installed (Google it, if you don’t) it will also be easy to see the Page Rank of the websites you are on. This will let you know the authority of the website.

Depending on how popular your keywords are, Google will be supplying you (for free) a regular list of websites which have RELEVANT content on where you can get backlinks from.
