Use existing platforms to develop a website
Since I got hooked on the internet, I've been involved in website development in one way or another. Now, I'm not a programmer or really techy dude who can build anything from scratch. In fact, I really can't develop a website from scratch other than simple HTML.
Today there are dozens of website platforms that you can use to create your own website, like you've been doing it for years. People say "I don't know how to build a website" and the glory of the matter is...they don't need to know how! Seriously, it is literally as easy as clicking some buttons in some cases. For instance, you could create an entire social network without ever touching source code to a website. The power is in the hands of the user who strives to learn and explore. Though I must put out a disclaimer to say not ALL platforms are simple point and click solutions.
Websites I have created have (most likely) all required some code manipulation but that is due in part to having a desire to customize functionality or design. I'm a little picky, don't mind me. Some websites can be up in a matter of 90 seconds (though not pretty or customized in any way) and others may take a dozen hours to get "right". And, there are those that take 30-60 hours...but that's more time than you'd ever need to invest I bet.
One of the simplest, "owned" websites you can get up and running in a matter of 60 seconds is a wordpress blog. If you have website hosting that uses cpanel and has "fantastico"...you're in luck. All you really need to do is click on the "Wordpress" install link, choose your admin password...and more or less, you're done! Then, you can customize the title, tagline, theme, plugins, etc. later on.
The point of this is...don't let your little experience get in the way. The potential is in your hands. Seek it out. Ask for help. Depending on your need, it may be easier than you think!
