The 80/20 Rule In Network Marketing

I'm sure everyone has heard of the 80/20 rule at some point.  How you should be spending 80% of your time/effort on the 20% most critical tasks. 

In Network Marketing this 80/20 rule applies to the fact that 20% of the people in Network Marketing are making 80% of the money.  I am sure that this might not be the case at every company, but across the entire industy it's a fact.  The remaining 80% make very little, barely break even and some lose money.  And I am talking about the people who stay in the industry.

How do you get yourself in the coveted 20% and share in the giant 80% pie.  Some of you are going to luck out and get the right upline who will take the time to make you successful.  Some of you are going to work yourself to near death, making hundreds of mistakes as you go along.  Some of you are just good at marketing and could sign up eskimos in your ice business.

If you didn't win the upline lottery (I know I didn't), don't want to make costly mistakes (or can't afford this) and you lack the necessary marketing skills, it's time you find a good mentor.   Someone who has walked in your shoes and has become part of the 20%. 

In fact, I would suggest finding someone who was in the top 5% of this 20% pool.  Someone who has walked the walk as well as talking the talk.  Someone who learned from the school of hard knocks and can show you step by step what you need to follow their success.

People feel that they can't afford a mentor. I would argue that if they want to to stay in this business that they can't afford to not have one.  Every successful person I know (myself included) has had at least one mentor to show them the ropes, keep them from the costly mistakes and teach them proven step by step instructions for succeeding.
