Today,
I’m going to tell you how I made an extra $6,000/Mo+ years ago with my
first tiny replicated site that cost me less than $500.
Now
what’s surprising is the thought of building a replicated marketing
system wouldn’t even occur to the average distributor in this industry,
and even if it did, they’d instantly shoot the idea down because it
would be “too hard”, “too complex”, or “too expensive”.
Oh, how wrong they are.
I can’t believe how fast time flies…
It’s
already been three to four years since I saw that tiny little
opportunity peering at me through the cracks of what had become the
fastest growing company of all time.
After five years of failure, everything was starting to come together.
I
had conquered my fear of the phone and was sponsoring new distributors
with ease. I had just been exposed to the power of copywriting and
spent most of my time each day studying the masters of direct response.
I finally understood that it wasn’t about a company or product… It was
about leadership and systems.
The
blindfold had been removed. I knew more about the people in this
industry than they knew about themselves, and now I had the skills to
do something great and make things happen.
One
of the nation’s most well-known radio personalities had recently joined
the company and put a very duplicatable system in place.
His
name was Andy, and his system was based around a radio advertising
co-op and three recorded “sizzle calls” that he’d produced.
It was a tiny bit of genius really…
99% of the sales pitches for the business opportunities in this industry are only 50% complete.
They
tell the story about the company and the product, and how fast business
is growing, etc… You know, the typical song and dance.
But Andy realized, as I had, that a piece was missing…
Networkers
love to hear that stuff. They like to know about the “Who, What, When,
Where, and Why” about an opportunity, but they’ll REALLY respond if you
show them the “How”. They want you to show them HOW they’ll be able to
get those customers and build their business.
So that’s what Andy sold them…
A
simple home business with a great product that anyone could do. You
didn’t have to hold meetings, you didn’t have to bug your family
members, and you didn’t have to do any marketing on your own.
As
you drove home from work each day and dialed into your favorite radio
station, his unique, charming voice would instantly catch your
attention. He’d tell you a little about this great new business that
you could do from home, and then direct you to call an 800 number and
leave a message to hear more about it.
As
prospects left their messages, they were then deposited into individual
distributor accounts on a rotating basis. These radio ads were paid for
with funds from an advertising co-op than Andy was running.
Distributors could buy shares for a few hundred dollars each, which entitled them to an equal portion of resulting leads
As
a distributor, you’d just call back your leads and then 3-way them into
a series of three recorded sizzle calls that presented the company, the
product, and the advertising co-op for you.
This was about as easy as it gets when it comes to building a business.
- The marketing was done for you.
- Your leads were expecting your phone call.
- You didn’t have to explain anything because the recorded messages did that for you.
Now
you might think that people were buying into the business opportunity
here, and to a degree they were, but they were really buying into a
simple system. People could see themselves having success because they
had just gone through the entire process first-hand. If you could
return a phone call, you could get results.
The
messages were a little too long, and I didn’t like that you had to dial
into three separate numbers to take someone through then entire
presentation, but it was working… My team LOVED this system and started
duplicating faster than ever before.
But I saw one chink in the armor – a tiny opportunity for improvement that was staring me in the face…
Believe
it or not, Andy’s system didn’t have a replicated website to go with
the sizzle calls. What if I wanted to send my prospects more
information about the system via email?
What if I could show this system to other networkers around the industry by advertising it on Google?
There was no way to do that, so I took it upon myself to provide a solution.
In
less than a week, I had used my new copywriting skills to craft a
single page website, along with a script for a new, shorter sizzle
message that told the entire story in just 8 minutes instead of 20+.
The
purpose of the webpage was simple: It sold Andy’s radio co-op system. I
took people through the entire process. They could even listen to the
new sizzle call right there on the site instead of through the phone.
This call was so effective, distributors were signing up 20% to 30% of their leads on the very first phone call with a $100 to $200 product package.
People
bought into the system so they would follow the process without
deviation, creating a fantastic level of duplication.
But
there was one tiny problem… Distributors wanted a personalized version
of my new little website for their own, with their picture and contact
information on it.
I didn’t know where to get a
replicated website made at the time, so I used a very simple 60 second
trick to “replicate” each one by hand for them.
I used the recurring billing function in 1ShoppingCart, and charged each person just $10 per month for their site.
Within a few months, I had 678 people paying $10 per month for a customized version of my little site.
If
you didn’t do that math, the site was making me an extra $6,780 per
month, and it had cost me less than $500 to setup.
Since
then, I’ve gone on to build three more replicated systems including
