The Third Letter Will Make you Rich

As we all know, the third letter of the alphabet is C.  As children, we learned that C stood for Cat.  Remember?

Unfortunately, the older we get, the more we forget about the basics.

The basic premise of being successful at anything is to be CONSISTENT with whatever we do.  Whether it be how we teach our kids, how we act in society, how we coach our soccer team, or how we build our business.

Everything requires consistency.  That is, if you expect something worthwhile to happen as a result of it.

Being consistent means constantly adhering to the same principles or course.  Did you read that?  I said:  Constantly being on the same course.

Consistency delivers results.

Consistency creates reliability.

Consistency ensures success.

Too many people are incongruent in their efforts of becoming a success in many areas of their lives.

They say one thing and do another.  People say they want to be successful, they want to be wealthy, they want to be healthy, or they want to be whatever.  But, when it comes down to it, their actions don’t meet their words.

As I have always said and certainly don’t claim to have made up this phrase:  Action speaks louder than words.

If you’re going to talk you talk, then walk it.

If you are going to be successful at anything worthwhile, it’s going to take some effort.  If we’re talking about being successful as an entrepreneur, as a business owner, then it will probably require quite a bit of effort.  Even if you are part-time or spare-time in your business, you can still be consistent.

Here’s what I did to absolutely ensure my success.  In the face of adversity and no results, I remained consistent.  I never stopped.  While faced with challenges and rejection, I kept on going.  When I felt like quitting, I never did.  When I had a bad day, I sucked it up and made tomorrow a better one.  When my check hit a plateau, I worked even more to break through the barrier.  When someone said “no”, I kept looking, asking and searching until I found someone who said “yes”.   I did something every day to propel my business forward, even if it was just for a few minutes.  I started my business working only a handful of hours a week, but made sure that I was consistent in my activities.

Now that you know how important it is to remain consistent, here are a few tips on making sure that you ARE consistent:

1.     Create a Plan.  Schedule it.  Get a planner and schedule the times that you are going to be working your business, going to the gym, and focusing on your personal development.  If you fail to plan, then you plan on failing.

2.     Stick to the Plan.  Why is it that people show up for work every day when they are employed but fail to show up for their own business?  Ask yourself this simple question:  Would I employ me?

3.     Hold yourself Accountable.  My goodness!  People call me all the time and ask me to hold them accountable.  What?  You have to be kidding me!  Hold yourself accountable.  That’s your job.  Don’t give yourself rewards unless you deserve them.  I just skipped a week long vacation because stuff needed to get done.  I cancelled my trip.  That’s now, today, recently.  Even now I still hold myself accountable.  So should you.

I don’t really have anything else to say.  It’s quite simple.  If you are going to get good at anything, you need to be consistent at it.

C stands for consistency.  W stands for wealth.  W comes after C in the alphabet.  And…so will your wealth once you become consistent.

You are so right!

Todd,

You are so right. BTW Thanks for the gift I believe you know what I mean. I believe we learn these traits as we grow into being successful entrepenuers. Some get them early...Some get them later. Point is sad to say some never get them. I have self taught myselt to always allow room for failure and to always start over and never ever give up inspite of all the odds against me.

Got to agree. And notice just how far it comes after it too. There's a lot in between. It's not going to happen if you're consistent for a week or a month. It has to be an ongoing part of your business.

And btw Todd, good of you to point out that taking responsibility and doing what needs to be done is still required whatever your level of success. Some folks just don't get this.
