Thoughts On "Giving Without Want"
I wrote this article when I read an article this evening on how there is so much "crap" being posted on this website to obviously sell someone's products or business opportunities. I really bought into the article and reflected some on why this may happen. I also share some ideas on what it would be like if we all truly stared practicing the Magnetic Sponsoring system Mike Dillard has been trying to teach us, while we gave value first, before we ever asked for anything. Hope it provides some stimulating thought.
I've never had the chance to meet the author of the article recently posted in our website about all the "crap" being posted. I do look forward to shaking his hand and applauding him for taking a Vision and a Mission, then going for it.
If you missed it, just go the community articles, and click on the tab for "Most Read". It's first page results as of today.
"Giving Without Want"...easy to say, not to often practiced. It just goes against the grain of everything most of us have been taught or learned from our experiences. Who was modeling it for us when we were growing up?
How in the world I am going to get out of this debt, get the house of my dreams, put the kids through college, pay my bills, buy that dream car, or pay the shrink for all the therapy I need for all the ways I have screwed up my????
I can certainly understand how difficult it is to make that "paradigm" shift when the baggage is heavy, and it feels like the walls are collapsing on all sides around you.
I have no idea what the author's personal financial circumstances are like or how well his business is growing. I hope he is prospering to the fullfillment of all his dreams. I want that for everyone.
I don't have a "but" or a "contracditory point" point to make with regards to anything Fernando shared obviously from deep within his heart. The passion and sincerity, even a little bit of fed up frustration, came through load and clear. Great Job!!
So why do we have so much "other content" creeping more and more into the MS community?? Without having done any study of the database or getting inside information from Mr. Dillard, I believe there is just so many new, old, and everywhere in between, network marketers, who are struggling and dying a slow death in this industry.
I guess my point is this. Until I am able to make a complete paradigm shift, which to my conscious mind, and probably anyone who knows me (including family members and friends) just doesn't make rationale sense. I'm going to keep getting what I've been getting.
What's that? Little success in my business venture, the same level of frustration I get from my 9-5 job, and probably even more debt and less money. Sadly enough, it could make my life even worse than if I would just stayed where I was.
However, if I hear and understand what Fernando is saying, we have to change the way we think, even if it doesn't make sense, regardless of where our business or financial circumstances currently stand.
At some point, I have got to decide that I am going to do whatever it takes to offer value, and then deliver it. Without any expectation for my contribution. I'm acually going to help others achieve success, for their first time or even for those who are already drowing in cash.
How in the world is this going to help me??? You???? The best way to find out is to do it, and stop doing everything else that is draining your pockets and not producing results.
At least then, I will be trying something different, and will save money on those things that are bleeding the life out of my business.
I have to believe on some level, all of us have experienced the joy, the contentment, and maybe even some type of reward for helping someone who didn't expect it, and probably didnt even understand why you did it.
Doing it without wanting something in return. They maybe even insisted they return the favor or give you some form of compensation. You refused anyway. Your pay off, for whatever reason was good enough for that moment to just walk away, and be happy you made a difference. That's a great feeling isn't it.
But why in the heck did I do it? It wasn't like I had just one the lottery.....
We have had so many great teachers over the years who modeled, preached, and wrote about the principle of giving without want. If you researched them, you would find that they were usually the most prosporous men or women of their time. They knew the secret and have tried desperately to share it.
Why hasn't it took???? Back to my title....when I live FROM my current circumstances, as unpleasant as they may be,I'm blocking myself from a position of power. Giving.
Now, if I know what my vision is, including what it will be like to be there and all things that will naturally come my way through the success that will have been achieved, giving will be natural. Why wouldn't I want to give to others when I have so much to give??
If I am operating from the perspective of a Financially Independent, highly successful entreprenuer, who has a clear Vision, Mission and Purpose, then helping others is the most natural thing to do. Isn't it?
If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.....but it's not. However, I didn't say it wasn't simple. It is. Once I, we can learn to live from "Whom We Are Becoming", or "The Acievement of Our Vision", our natural or normal response will be give back, share valuable content, help another person......
At the end of day, whether I truly grasp this message that Fernando has served, or get the connection of "Giving without Want", maybe I should just start practicing it and see what happens.
If my current results are not what I had hoped for, then trying something different would be a pretty sane thing to do.
It doesn't even have to be anything "Earth Shattering or Breaking the Code". Maybe its just a cool website with some good content on marketing, copywriting, personal development. Maybe just one small success story that gives hope to someone else.
Just try helping someone besides myself today......maybe I should even play that game where I try to do one random act of kindness that nobody knows about. See how it feels.
Maybe theirs some truth to the saying, "What comes around, goes around"??
What a great community of people we have in this community. There is so much talent, experience, life experiences, and potential. If we can find a way to harnass it and bring it out for all of us to enjoy, Wow......what in the world would that be like?????
Wishing you all continued success in all you do,
Art
