I'm going to start this article with something I read on Wikipedia. I did a search for "Multi-level Marketing." Now, unless you've been living with a primitive tribe in the remote wilderness, you know what Wikipedia is. Wikipedia was created in 2001, and basically it's the encyclopedia of the internet. It's a huge website that's filled with articles and information. It's an excellent research tool!

Here is what it had to say:

"Multi-level marketing (MLM), also known as Network Marketing, is a business-distribution model that allows a parent company to market its products directly to consumers by means of relationship referrals and direct selling.

Independent, unsalaried salespeople of multi-level marketing, referred to as distributors (or associates, independent business owners, franchise owners, sales consultants, consultants, independent agents, etc.), represent the parent company and are awarded a commission based upon the volume of product sold through each of their independent businesses (organizations).

Independent distributors develop their organizations by either building an active customer base, who buy direct from the parent company, or by recruiting a downline of independent distributors who also build a customer base, thereby expanding the overall organization. Additionally, distributors can also earn a profit by retailing products they purchased from the parent company at wholesale price.

Distributors earn a commission based on the sales efforts of their organization, which includes their independent sale efforts as well as the leveraged sales efforts of their downline. This arrangement is similar to franchise arrangements where royalties are paid from the sales of individual franchise operations to the franchisor as well as to an area or region manager.

Commissions are paid to multi-level marketing distributors according to the company’s compensation plan. There can be multiple levels of people receiving royalties from one person's sales."

By all means, go to Wikipedia, put in Multi-level Marketing and finish reading the page. There's plenty of related links you can check out too. I love it! And here's my point. Did you see the phrase "pyramid scheme" anywhere in that description. Did you see the words "scam" or "cult" anywhere. No!

Wikipedia is an extremely credible source, and Multi-level Marketing(as defined in that article)is an excellent business oppurtunity! It's a business that almost anyone can do. It's the very best way I know of to get your goals and dreams...not to mention make a ton of money!

I want people to know the truth. Take that all you skeptics. Get your information from the right sources. This is also a great article for those who are new to, or thinking about Multi-level Marketing/Network Marketing and  don't really understand what it is.

With all the layoffs, downsizing and companies closing down, let's make people aware of this fantastic business model!

Wiki is good but not credible

I like your enthusiasm. Just a quick note, wikipedia is not a credible source in the sense that anyone can modify the script. For the most part it is good info, but on a professional level, it is never allowed when writing research. Back to your comment on scams in multi level marketing, well most of it is self-inflicted because most people fail in network marketing. High failure equals lots of skeptiscism. Just take a look at the policies and procedures of most companies and you will see why there is so much failure. Look at the compensation plans and how they are set up. Most will not succeed after the initial emotion and their warm market list is gone. Very few will succeed on hype. Education, persistence, and follow through goes a long ways. Thanks for your comments

Lead On,
Brendan

Great article

MLM is a great way to beat a bad economy. One issue though, Wikipedia is only as credible as the people who add the information.  Thanks again.
