I arrived in New York City a few days ago. Sunday morning I was lucky enough
to have a little extra quiet time to read the New York Times.
Isn’t it exciting to see what’s going on in the world these days? It never ceases to
amaze me what all the “talking heads” are saying. How come if they’re all so
smart and knew everything, that most of them did not predict the mess we’re
in?
Many of the writers asked the same questions from different “specialists”.
When did our problems start, why, who’s to blame, and of course when does it
end? No matter what the answers, it’s still just one person’s opinion and nobody
knows what will happen in the future. We can look into the past and try to learn
from it, but who can look into the future? If any of us here had those talents,
we’ll probably all be in the “Physic’s Business”.
Nobody knows, and it’s everybody’s guess. Time will tell. In the meantime, we
can concentrate on all the opportunities that are arising from a crisis like the one
we’re in.
What happened during the big depression in the late 1920’s? Many people lost a
ton of money, but many innovative and creative people also made fortunes.
Creativity is always the key. Just look at what happened here alone in New York
City then. The Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Chrysler Building,
just to name a few, were all built in the years following 1929.
Even though there was a lot of hardship for people, the Arts, Photography, Theatre
and Film had their golden years. Just heard a couple of days ago, movie theatres
around the country are packed, 10%+ increases in revenue over same time
last year. While in New York, I was hoping to go see the Broadway show “Wicked”.
Sorry, sold out.
Let’s concentrate instead on what we can do now. Let’s figure out how to get new
income streams into our businesses. Let’s zoom in and focus on strategies that help
start or grow online ventures. Or how about finding new customers that buy our
products and services?
If you are new to the Web, or just started thinking about building your Internet
Empire? You are in the right place at the right time. We are here to provide lots of
free or low budget, step-by-step, easy to follow solutions.
Start thinking about what you like to do. Are you already using Social Networking
sites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or VividBuzzbot?
Do you have something to share and like to write articles or press releases that
can be posted on the Web for free? Would you like to start your own free Blog
and let the world know what you are all about? Or are you up for placing some
classified ads on the Internet?
Do you prefer to sell products or information? Any of these are easily done,
if you know where to look and find them. No reason to re-invent the wheel.
As a teacher told me a long time ago; “find something you like and then just
make it better or improve the quality before you bring it to the market place”.
Among all the commentaries and articles in the NY Times , I did find something
very interesting, written by Eric Schmidt, chairman and chief executive of Google.
Let me quote it here:
“I also believe that the Internet will be the critical part of our recovery – an open
market place where small businesses and start-ups can stand on a level playing
field with well-established companies. Marshalling our technological prowess and
unleashing our entrepreneurs online (and off) will create sustainable growth over
the next decade”
What are we waiting for? Let’s roll up our sleeves, turn on those computers and
create successful online businesses for now AND our future. Anything is possible!
To Massive Success!
