Tweeter Getter Scam??? Did you join more than 2 weeks ago and still don't have an extra 9,000 followers?
Alas, I must admit, I too fell for the hype of Tweeter Getter! I mean 19,350 followers in 30 days was quite the enticement ...and quite unreal too. At least that was my experience.
If anybody else has had a different experience I would love to hear about it.
As I was looking across the web I found this which Bob Jenkins wrote. He makes a great point that the key element of social media is the part where you're actually supposed to be SOCIAL! lol Wow, what a concept.
Yes, automated twittering does kind of seem to miss the point.
Bob Jenkins says the following...
"When it comes to SOCIAL media, the whole point is the quality of the relationships and connections – not the quantity.
Which is why I don’t think you should use Tweeter Getter. Yes, having 19,000 followers in 30 days will look impressive to those who don’t really understand Twitter.
The trouble for you will be a clogged email and DM box – and a cacophony of tweets from people who believe quantity is more important than quality.
Sure, you’ll get up to 10,000 or more followers quicker than doing it “by yourself”. But 80% or more of your following will be people who were led by the hype of the landing page at TweeterGetter. So it’s likely your followers will be hypists and leeches more than contributors to the conversation."
Personally, I've not seen any drastic increase in the amount of followers at Twitter and now I wonder what else might be being done with my twitter ID that I don't know about.
Note to self: Think twice when any internet tool appears to be hyped up, because most likely that's all it is shallow hype and hollow promises.
Just a thought...

I have to agree with you
I have to agree with you Randy. I too almost fell for this ploy, but then logic and rationale came back to life! Twitter and Social media is just that, SOCIAL! Automated unknowns, no matter the number will predictably stay unknowns. So what is the point?

No Tweeter Getter for Me
Dear Randy -- I am just in the process of joining more social networks and Twitter is next on my list. I would love to think I wouldn't "fall for" an automated "friend maker," but who knows... being more than a bit green at all of this, maybe I would have. Thanks for the headsup!
Hey Randy, Thanks For The Insight!
Wow, I am glad I didn't get involved with it! I'm with you, it's all about building genuine relationships that will last a lifetime! Thanks for your friendship Randy!

Hi Randy, Thank you. Thank you for the information.
Happy networking. Aloha
Another Point of View
There are always many ways to look at something...
I think there's another point here to consider on the topic.
Twitter is about being social... but it starts with getting exposure so you have someone to be social with.
When you first sign up with Twitter you are ALONE. Nobody is around to be talk to, engage conversation in, or attract to your business by giving value and networking. So you have to start following people. Some of them then follow you, which builds your Twitter list.
Many of the people who follow you back are set up to do so automatically. Others do it manually but without much thought. How qualified are these Twitter folks who follow you? Not too much.
But now you have a growing audience to be social with.
TweeterGetter is just a means to get more exposure... to build your followers list with people who are likely the type of people who are interested in business services, opportunities, tools, consulting, etc.
Once they join your list (whether through Tweeter Getter or however else) it's in your court to BE social. But it starts with exposure and Tweeter Getter is simply another means to get more exposure.
That's all. Just a tool.
I think Tweeter Getter is misunderstood because of other spammy type tools and strategies that have been used in the past--Tweeter Getters doesn't have to be spammy or promoted in an annoying way. It can be promoted mindfully. But to see it help increase your Twitter followers list, you do have to promote it or it can't serve you in any way. It's viral marketing not magic.
My Tweeter Getter tool has probably added about 2000-3000 Twitter'ers in the last couple weeks. I have about 14,000 Followers in total, most of them attracted through the traditional means -- I promote Tweeter Getter on Google adwords (spend about $15/ month) and at Traffic Exchanges (free) like at Traffic Swarm where people like that sort of tool. It's just another means to get more exposure so I have more people to be social with.
Here's an article discussing the controversy more and where I discuss how I suggest using this tool if you decide to.

Good topic. It's always good to think about things before you act.

Tweeter is next
Hi Randy, thanks for your article. I am not a member of tweeter yet but was asked to join several times. It just seems that quality of relationships can get so thinned out by all of these social media platforms. There are hundreds of them and it's just getting out of hand. So people will resort to tools and tricks to get their name out. No matter what type of tool you use, you are still the one who has to communicate and attract with quality rather than quantity.

What about TweetAdder ?
I too avoided the Twitter Getter even though it was recommended to me by some friends. Something I did try as a free trial was TweetAdder and am considering the paid version.
I'd be grateful if anyone has any feedback on this one too.
Many thanks,
Roger
