Five things you can do to position yourself for the best ever 2009

5 Ways to Skyrocket Your MLM Business During the HolidaysDecember is typically a slow month for home based businesses. Why not plan for it to be your biggest month ever? Get a jumpstart for this month and then enjoy the rewards over the next year. Most people are too busy shopping, attending parties or going on vacations. They don’t see a need until the festive season is over.  They tend to procrastinate and wait until January before building or starting their business. If you put your business on hold until January you will be a step behind.

This is where you can step in. Your chief advantage is January is huge. If you don’t prepare now you will be behind.  The economy is in the dumps which actually gives you an advantage. People are realizing they have no job security. According to Ann Sieg the typical slow down hasn’t hit yet. This year is different.  In January people will be coming online in droves; will you be ready? Will your team be ready?  Be an educator and train people now and incentive others.

1) Preparation.
Build your foundation for this month. People will be putting you off now anyway so this is a perfect time to focus on your own learning. Work on your blog or your web-site. If you are a beginner, learn what to write. Preparation NOW will springboard you through the  next year.

Write articles for Better Networker, Squidoo, Hubpages etc., write in your blog for as little as 30 minutes a day. Write messages for your auto-responder and load them in but don’t activate it until you have 20-40 which you can then recycle through.

This also an excellent time to create your own landing pages.  Which one of these would you click on? http://irenekirkman.com which is my own landing page and offers a free video along with the 7 Great Lies OR the replicated squeeze page provided by Ann Sieg? http://ireneleslie.the7greatliesofnetworkmarketing.com/

People are going to realize they need to diversify when the January bills come rolling in. Do your homework now, learn as much as you can so you can be positioned to help people. If you are on a team as opposed to flying solo it is much easier to be a guide to someone. You don’t need to know it all; you simply need to know where to direct them.

2) Tax Deductions.
This is the best time to start a home-based business. Why? Because Uncle Sam will help you pay for it! It’s a tax deduction. Any expenses you incur with your business are a tax deduction as well. This is the time of year when smart business owners make big purchases. December is the last month to take advantage of tax deductions for the entire 2008 calendar year. Take advantage of Christmas sales and after Christmas sales to invest in needed tools to speed up efficiency in your business (e.g. hardware, training systems).

3) Reconnect.
Don’t focus on building your foundation only. This is the best time of year to reconnect with people that you haven’t seen in a while. Reconnect not only with family, friends, business associates but people on your list as well. Start driving traffic to your personal blog for information. People are sending cards, use the season, make sure your card has a link to your personal blog where there is NO selling. This is a safe zone. Give holiday tips for example.
From there you can link them to your web-site which contains your advertising. Even if your blog isn’t built yet, get contact information for folks. You are going to be out and about anyway; why not collect business cards as you go?  I’ll tell you what to do with them in January.

 4) Give Holiday Tips.
As you are reconnecting with your list or creating internet articles, give seasonal value. You can offer holiday tips, a review, humor, all kinds of seasonal information. Simply add these to all your methods of communication: email campaigns, blogs, and articles. Don’t know what to write? Google it. There are all kinds of interesting things seasonal in nature.

5) Holiday Specials.
Offering holiday specials is a great way to give, give, give. Heap on the value. Put a deadline on it which makes for a great call to action.  Give bonuses, offer free coaching, a free e-book or  if you don’t have anything you can offer  what I’m offering:

Here is my Christmas Special. We’ve extended 90 Day Marketer Bonuses. The price will be going up after Christmas. Click on this link if you would like to read the 5 reasons this program is for you whether you are an overwhelmed newbie or a frustrated intermediate. One other reason that I don’t mention is that this program positions you to become a coach asap. As I said above you don’t need all the answers you simply need to know where to direct people. Oh, and don't forget its a tax write-off!

So there you have it; 5 ways to skyrocket your home business in December.  Plan time to educate yourself and write your content. Take advantage of the tax savings available to business owners. Reconnect without going into sales model. You will have way more fun and your friends and family will be relieved. Offer seasonal value. Finally offer holiday specials in appropriate locations.

Have a wonderful Christmas and all the best to you in 2009!

Outstanding Article and Advice

Hey Irene,

Great article.  Absolutely the best recommendation and advice to fellow Internet marketers.  I certainly am going to put it in action.  In fact, I have spent most of today doing some of those tasks you mentioned.  I didn't realize I was getting a jump start on 2009 (lol).  Thanks, guess I'm on the right track.

re holiday home biz skyrocketing - great tips!

Hi Irene,

My favorites are #1 and #3 although all 5 ways to skyrocket our business is what I need to do!  But I want to carryout #1 and #3.  I love to plan and prepare for action.  (Taking action during this fun time of the year is what I have a little trouble with LOL)

But you're right, it's time to write!  Plus connect and reconnect.  Thanks!  Your timing is perfect with this article which btw, took a lot of writing and connecting with all of us here.  Good job1
