What is your WHY?
Hello all,
I decided to write a little bit. I'm sitting at my desk at work. Yep, my full time job that I hope to dismiss someday soon. Hehe, don't get me wrong, I actually love my job :) The people here are so great, the environment is great, the job is fun! The Company is amazing... but of course I have more aspirations in life, there are more things I would like to achieve. And I know that being an entrepreneur with my home based business will allow me to do that... someday.
Now, what is it that I want to do in my life? For a long time I've seen my job, my profession even, (I'm an Engineer, in Chile we call my career "Commercial Engineering" which has a lot of Management, Finance, Marketing and Business Administration in it. It's a fun career) as a mere tool to achieve something more. I do like my profession, I do like my job right now. But it's not what I want to live for, if you know what I mean. What truly passionate me are my hobbies. And I know very few people who can actually live from their hobbies and be happy. And those who do turn their hobbies into their job, end up very badly... I'm sure you can think of plenty of famous people out there. Now to me that's the key. I don't want my hobbies to become my job. I would actually like to erase my job to enjoy my hobbies. And I'm sure many of you are in this business because you feel the same way.
I've always told myself that I don't need to be rich to be happy. I don't need a lot of money to be happy. Money is nothing more than a means to an end. Now, material stuff can be important, they allow us to live and many times to share the things that make us truly happy. They're just a tool. But the best investment I could make with my money would be travelling, and then helping the people I love and who are in need. And my main ambition is to do something for the planet, for our World.
There is a very particular millionaire here in Chile. His name is Leonardo Farkas. If you do some research on him, you will see that he is in the mining industry, and that he is very good at doing business. But you will also find that he gives money away on the streets and everywhere he goes. If he goes out for dinner, his tip isn't 10 dollars, his tip is for 500 dollars, sometimes 1000 dollars. When a guy takes care of his car at a parking lot, he'll give them 100 dollars. If somebody sees him on the streets and asks him for some money, he will give it to them. And every year he donates an insane amount of money at our Telethon. He is a role model for most millionaires, in my opinion. He is a very cool guy :)
So that's it.... my WHY is basically what I have said... I want to be free and be able to live life to the fullest. And the fullest to me doesn't translate into buying expensive houses, cars, etc. The fullest to mean means freedome from routine, freedom from our everyday life that sometimes consumes us. Time passes by and when we are finally free we are too old to enjoy anything. I don't want that to happen to me. Life is too sacred to leave it out to waste. Let's make our own destiny.
So... what is your WHY? and ... why??
Thanks for reading!
All the best
Caro.

Great Article on your Why
Your article really speaks about you and where you want to head in life. Sounds like you are starting to achieve some of the thing you talk about...even if you go at them slowly, it is better than not going there at all.
Wow! Leonardo Farkas is amazing. I would love to do that some day myself. (I am a BIG giver). My help would be to anyone that needs it but in particular are the children of the world who are helpless and did not choose the situations in which they were put.
Keep up the good work and it really is a great "WHY!"

My Why....
First, I want to tell you that I was just speaking of doing things that you say Leonardo Farkas does! I was just telling my friends how self-ish most rich people are. They give to organizations and think that's enough, when they could freely give out money all day long if they pleased!! I've noticed you pay attention to Robert Kiyosaki as well as I do, he is very intelligent and get's my brain thinking too.
I want to become wealthy because I want to travel and SEE the world. I want to do outrageous things like pay for my entire family to go on cruises with me. I want to make people happy in general! In order to get everything you want in life, you have to help enough people get what they want first. My mom and I were just having a conversation about the rich, and she said most rich people aren't happy, even though they have all the money they could dream, but actually bored. That may be true for some, but I know that when I get rich, living FREE that i'm going to do my best to help anyone I can. Just as you say that guy gives people money on the street, WHY NOT DO THAT??? Why not overtip? Money is a way to purchase things, but if you can purchase whatever you want, whenever you want it, it can indeed become boring.....THAT'S WHERE GIVING SHOULD COME IN THE PICTURE!! Once I give enough to people, I will be blessed with the happiness to stay content being wealthy and still have the SAME FAITH IN MYSELF & GOD! That is my why....and why it is my why.
Thanks so much Diane and
Thanks so much Diane and Michael! I really appreciate your commnents!! *hugs all around*
And I soooo agree with you there Michael, we're definitely on the same page here :)
Robert Kiyosaki is a genius :)
Keep up the good work! And let's be rich to enrich everyone around us!
Hi
Hi Carolina,
Thank you for your question. This really IS a great question to answer.
Little bit my story – I left my diplomatic carrier about 3 years ago….just because…I decided to do so. Gut feeling? Sure it was. You know - there are moments in your life you just KNOW it’s the right thing to do. That moment I did not know how I am going to pay my mortgage or earn my living. And my daughter started University that year.
But I left my job anyway. It was such a great feeling of freedom, like getting out of a cage and start enjoying life.
Why is important! But for me to follow ones intuition was much more important.
