What To Do When You Feel Like Quitting Your Network Marketing Business

Read More: Mindset  |  Personal Development

Nearly everybody I think at one point or another has felt like qutting their networking marketing business.

I know I was there quite a few times.

Here are the things I think you should strongly consider when you feel like quitting your network marketing business:

Remember WHY you came into your network marketing business in the first place

If you feel like quitting you “may” not have a strong enough why or reason that you got into the business in the first place.  I say “may” because you actually might have a really good reason, but you aren’t doing the kinds of things that will help you succeed in your network marketing business.

If you got in because you “gave in” to someone just to make them stop bothering you, then well that’s not a strong enough reason. If you came in to the network marketing business because you wanted financial independence, you never want someone telling you when to wake up go to sleep and take vacations EVER AGAIN and you want to put your kids through college on your own, well those are STRONG reasons. So really check yourself and see why you got involved in network marketing in the first place.

Re-Examine Your Current Business Activities

You should be spending in the beginning at LEAST 10 HOURS per week part time working the business and working the business means WORKING THE BUSINESS, i.e. doing those revenue producing activities (RPAs) for your network marketing business. There’s a reason its called Network Marketing and not Net”sleep”Marketing of Net”hope”Marketing.

Organizing papers while productive is not revenue producing activities in network marketing. You need to be EXPOSING your business to potential customers or business builders on a consistent basis. Basically there needs to be an initial prospect contact phase, and information presentation phase, followed by a followup phase.

Seek Your Upline

You should immediately be in contact with your upline business partner. If that person is not, nor has ever been helpful, you should find his/her sponsor. You should continue up the chain here until you find someone who will listen to you and help you. You may have to go crossline by the way. You should tell your upline EXACTLY what you’ve been doing. Ideally you should be TRACKING your RPAs in network marketing. Why? Because this give you an objective measure of how you’re doing and let’s your upline see as well and they can help pinpoint areas of strength and weakness that you may be missing.

Be Realistic

If you thought you’d just jump into your network marketing business and make six figures in six months unless you’re a seasoned network marketing veteran, you’re probably going to be sorely disappointed. Network Marketing IS a business and most take time to generate income. And you really need to understand the basics of how to work a network business. It’s not hard but it takes time and you have to be doing the right activities to see results.

Reevaluate your network marketing company

Are you excited about your network marketing company’s product or service? Do you understand the comp plan to know how easy or hard it is to generate retail sales, and residual income? What is the average commission on each pin level? Understand what kind of activity it takes on average to generate the income you seek. Work closely with your upline on this.

Personal Development

No matter how much you know about how to succeed in network marketing, if you don’t understand yourself, or your motivations you may be consistently sabotaging yourself for success.

Many people stand in their own way of success even when the door to it is WIDE open.

Many people don’t really believe they deserve to be successful and so even when the steps are laid out in front of them like a yellow brick road,  they refuse to take it and instead travel the more comfortable path that they know even though it continues to lead to disappointment and frustration.

Don’t Quit.

Let me repeat that. DON’T QUIT! You may just be on the verge of the success you’ve dreamed of in network marketing. Before you turn your back on what could be success beyond your wildest imagination, follow the steps I mentioned above. If it takes you a year or two or even more, the rewards will be WELL worth it.

Hi Carlos, Great reminders

Hi Carlos,

Great reminders for working a business. There is no free ride in network marketing, for sure. Thanks for the tips. I especially like the part about being realistic. I think we are often dissapointed when we don't make 6 figure in 2-3 years, because "The Plan" said we could. We could, not we would. This would be, of course, in a perfect world.

I think our eyes can get so glazed over when we first look at network marketing and it's potential, we forget that this may be a simple business, but it's not easy. Simple because anyone can learn what it takes to succeed. Hard because people will not always be receptive to you and/or your offer.

I've been hearing this a lot. The best part of network marketing is the people and the worst part about network marketing is the people. People are what make up network marketing and people are not always going to do the expected. Whether it's customers, partners, prospects, etc, people are going to do the unexpected.

But, if any person REALLY wants to succeed in this Industry, there are so many resourses available. With time and effort, network marketing success is achievable, for sure.

Thanks again.

Michelle

Hi Michelle, thanks for the comment

Hi Michelle,

thanks for the comment!
Yes, this is a simple and straightforward business but you know what really
separates those who are successful versus those who aren't is skillset.
Of course the things I mentioned in the article are still important too.

There are ways to talk to people to get them interested in the business and to watch a cd, video, etc. There are certain things you want to say or not say depending on the type of person you're talking to. For example a "red" type
personality is usually interested in the bottom line. He won't be as interested in all the relationships and people he might meet like a "blue" center of attention type person might be. Mark J is an expert networker at this.

There are ways to posture yourself so that people respect you and you control the conversation when talking to someone about your network marketing business. Aaron Rashkin and Mark Weiser (my mentor) are masters at this.

There are ways to "close" people in the sense of getting them to make a decision to join or not join your business.
But it doesn't just stop there. When someone joins your business they still need to be trained properly to do what you've just done. The late Bob Schmidt says you should get a persons reasons why up front so that you can remind them of those reasons later if they begin to slack off after they've joined.

Its not rocket science but its a journey to success in the network marketing. And understanding then applying these skills will help on you take your business to success.

Let me know if I can help in any way!

Be Great!
