What to Say When Calling a Prospect
While many of today's Network Marketers are working on the Internet,
meaning through social networking sites, traffic portals, and ppccampaigns, the technique of actually speaking to a prospect is not talked about enough these days.
In fact, most networkers (well, the struggling one's anyways-if that's you, pay attention)hate the thought, even cringe at the thought of having to pick up the phone and actually speak to someone, a real live person at the other end.
Email can go a long way these days, but nothing replaces the good old fashioned methodof one on one interaction. You can't read a persons mood from an email. You can't figure out if they are naturally motivated, or excited, or interested in what you are offering.
Calling a prospect is the best way of getting that person into your business. Period.
So what do you say? Okay, that depends.
Is this person qualified? In other words, has this person signed up through a web form asking you for more information? Do they already know what the opportunity is?
If this is the case, then you call them, introduce yourself, and speaknaturally.Think back to when you first signed up for your mlm company. Chances are, someonecalled you after you signed up for information.
How did your sponsor sound? What was the demeanor of their voice? They most likely werevery calm, yet assertive, and most of all: confident.
Be confident and honest, speak naturally and you really can't lose. So you introduce yourself, and say "hello, you signed up for information regarding "abc"(insert product here). My name is ....., I am here to get you started and answer any questions you may have. You can be a bit assertive and assume they want to sign up with you. Just be honest with them. Speak like you are speaking to a friend of yours. I can't stress this point enough. You never want to adopt a strange "announcer voice" and speak like you are announcing a Knicks game.
Also, make sure that you listen. This is another often overlooked point, and is great advice in general, not just phone prospecting. Don't just blab away pitching your fabulous product, give the prospect some respect and let them ask questions.
Now, I know this is very unpopular right now, but I am going to get into it anyways. What is it?
Cold calling. (Cue dramatic music!)
No one really talks about the best method of signing up other Network Marketers. But calling genealogy lists is very powerful because with it you have already qualified these people. These are people who have already exhibited the desire to do Network Marketing. This is how many of the heaviest heavy hitters in the industry have built their large downlines.
But what do you say? You say something like this:
"Hi is this John? Hi John, this is James Hosmer. John, I am a Network Marketer from Las Vegas, Nevada, and your name came to me as a fellow marketer."(by the way, if they interrupt you here and say they are NOT a marketer, thank them for their time and end the call). "John, I am involved in a very fast growing company, and we are looking for leaders to join our team. If that is you I would love to send you a one time email with some info for you to check out. If not, we can hang up and I will never bother you again".
That's it. This puts the ball in their court, and also shoes them respect by not pitching your opportunity directly. You get their email address, let them know what the subject line will say, and send them a persuasive email right away.
So remember, speak naturally, assertively, and most importantly - honestly.
Keep all of these things in mind and you can't lose. Happy prospecting!
