What Would You Have Done?

A lesson for Fortune Network Marketers.

A business owner set out to test the honesty of his top level cadre. He was interested in understanding their values and propensity toward dishonesty.

At a company wide meeting, he announced that there would be a special assignment for everyone. He handed each a packet, which contained seeds, soil, and a pot. Their instructions were to take them home and plant them.

who had the nicest plant. The winner would receive a valuable prize.

All did as instructed and soon the time came to attend that years company meeting.  They arrived with dozens of pots and plants with a wide variety plants, a beautiful scene.

The exception was a man that stood next to a pot with no plant. He  stood, embarrassed by his failure.

The owner called him onto the stage and asks him what had happened. The man replied that he had planted the seed nurtured and watered it faithfully but nothing happened. He told the truth and offered no excuses.

In a surprise move, the owner declared him the winner of the contest. To everybody’s amazement, the owner declared, “Gentlemen! The seeds I gave you have been boiled and they cannot grow. So today in this assembly we have only one honest person and that should be a lesson to them all.

“This man was honest to his work and, therefore he did not cheat me or himself!"

Even the smallest deception eventually grows into distrust and that is the foundation for failure. The truth, especially for a team leader, is their most valuable asset. Do not taint it with even small distortions.

Stay honest to yourself first and then others. If you do you will realize great rewards.

LIVE YOUR DREAMS...may you have an"09" that is filled with happiness and prosperity.

Let's turn the tables

Elwood,

I've got one for you. Let's turn the tables.

You stated: "Even the smallest deception eventually grows into distrust and that is the foundation for failure. The truth, especially for a team leader, is their most valuable asset. Do not taint it with even small distortions."

I agree, it's a very valid statement.

What would you do if your team leader distorted the truth about you, made up a story and broadcast it to the entire team?

The pain would be his to bare..

The distorter, that is. The truth would manifest itself in time and the perpetrator left holding the bag of lies!

The More I Learn The Truth...... The More My Dream Becomes Real

I am so thankful for all the education that is given through people like you Elwood!  I still and forever will be learning and studying the leaders around me.

I have never been taught "how to think" until just recently.  Before I was always told "what to think" and unfortunately wasted alot of precious time and thousands of dollars.

I agree, it is crucial to take our dreams serious and make sure that we have a solid foundation.  This is what we live for, our deepest desires on our heart, our "why" in life!

Which direction do we want to watch

It's a full time job watching what is coming at you from the future and where we are going without haveing to watch behind us to see what lie is going to catch up with us.  Geat article Elwood

Honesty and Integrity always Win...

There is no well-defined boundary between honesty and dishonesty.
The frontiers of one blend with the outside limits of the other, and he who attempts to tread this dangerous ground may be sometimes in one domain and sometimes in the other.

Thanks Elwood for another great lesson.
