When “STUFF HAPPENS”…How Do You handle It?
c
In Network Marketing we are constantly faced with unexpected situations and in many cases they are negative in nature. It is not what happens to us, it is how we react and what we do to resolve the problem. The road to success is paved with failures; those that overcome these failures will in the end become successful.
Four days ago during a cloning operation to back up my hard drive a glitch occurred causing me to loose my hard drive it also destroyed the clone and fried the motherboard. I lost everything, it was a total disaster. Of course month of work was lost along with all my contacts, bookmarks, pictures, videos phones, Skye accounts and web sites.
I cried, cursed and chastised myself for about one and one half minutes and told myself that I needed to get to work and replace the equipment. I live in a remote area and it is about 60 miles to a metropolitan area where equipment is available.
I drove down to a neighbor’s house and called a friend. He had access to some P Cs but I wouldn’t be able to get my hands on them until Monday. In the mean time I went to work with pencil and paper (slow and ancient) accomplishing much. I did not wait for every thing to be perfect I did what I could with what I had to work with.
The moral is “thing will often be less than perfect”, if I waited for everything to be as it was it would have taken over a week to resolve things and be ready to get back to work. No matter what happens there is a way to continue doing what is necessary to accomplish our goals, work with what you have. As a result I am happy and feel good about myself and am back in business. I turned a failure into a success.
You can do the same.
“Personal”…complementary success training, I would be happy to share my wisdom and experience with you.

Stuff does happen... it's been said that.........
Elwood.....
Being a professional when dealing with the humans with whom we interract in business, can be determined by the length of time that we, as business persons, curse and slam and overeat before getting back on track..
During a recent stint with a company that was ........let's be kind here.... NOT what it was purported to be, I was taking calls from infomercials late one night. In fact, it was the very first day that I got all lined up, put up the mirror to grin at, put on a tie and coat, and waited.
RING!
Ooops....here I go. My screen erupted with data and my guts (even after a lifetime in sales) were tight, and into my headset I spoke........or tried to.
And THIS was my first call: "You rotten rich ^&^&&%$ bas%**Z(&( with all of your F&*%&*%(^** money , trying to take our money for your f^%^&%&%&%& ,You should be taken out and *&*&%^$#
What a start!
Remembering my anti subversive training, I calmly said:
"Thanks for bringing that to my attention"
This, of course, enraged him, as I intended
I hung up and laughed, told ole satan he wasn't going to mess me up, and took the next call.
Twenty eight years ago I would have ruined days figuring out how to track him down and.......
Yep. We are as professional as the time it takes to recover from the human natures.
Let's see now, where is that guy's address..........

Nice post, by the way.

Ouch, Oooo, Oh NO!
Elwood,
First of all, you have my heart fell sympathy for your computer loss. Fortunately, I've been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. Even with back up you'd best figure it's gonna happen again.
Our reaction to situations is the foundation of our tenacity. "Stuff" is going to happen. People are going to say things, do things that just don't align with your vision (they may even lie about you) and how one handles that will make all the difference in the long run.
Being responsible for who you say you are and keeping the negative mental chatter to a minimum takes skills training and lots of practice.

When The Going Gets Tough...
Well, you're a perfect example of when the going gets tough, the tough get going!
Sorry to hear about your mishap, however, you handled it well. There is no need to waste time and energy crying and cursing about it, it's done, now the only left to do is figure out the best and quickest way to get yourself up and running again. You have a business, you need a computer. We all go through computer crashes at one time or another. And this occurred during the back-up??
In our line of work, it's a constant up and down. I always say, when I'm down, it won't be long before I'm Up again.
Best of luck putting it all back together.
