Who are your business heroes?
There is much talk in the business consultant world about the value of a mentor. There is no denying that having someone who can come alongside you, advise you - who lets you bounce ideas and concerns off of them and offers honest appraisal – is very valuable to a person’s growth. My most valued coach is my brother. He is a gifted genius in organizational ontology who knows leadership and vision like I know my name. He keeps me on track and gives me total, positive support.
If you read enough success-oriented magazines and books, listen to enough audio presentations and video talks…you’ll learn that having a mentor is something desirable and you are very fortunate if you find one.
Mentors are heroes to those they help.
There is another type of hero-mentor…this is the person who only comes alongside you via their books, cds or videos, or even if you attend one of their seminars. They don’t know you personally, yet their material coaches you, inspires you and helps you grow.
One such hero-mentor for me is a super-salesman named Jeffrey Gitomer. Mr. Gitomer does not know me, yet his work has been very powerful in my growth as a business person. Jeffrey Gitomer has a series of “Little….Book of…”’s that I value and that have taught me a lot.
Another hero-mentor to me is Mike Dillard, who also does not know me, but whose work has helped me greatly…now I don’t write this because BetterNetworker is where I’m posting this article…rather it is because the Magnetic Sponsoring materials are of true value. The knowledge inside is real and applicable. Having this kind of knowledge at my fingertips gives me confidence and assurance as I go about my business. My career background is in marketing, advertising and public relations…but not via the internet. Internet marketing has been a whole new world and Magnetic Sponsoring materials make the transition from the “old traditional” to the wireless Ethernet world work for me.
No matter where you find your mentor, find one. As you mature in your business knowledge and success, be one.

Mentors
Linda,
Excellent article. Mentors are incredibly important. I was mentored through books by Denis Waitley and Tom Hopkins and then had the opportunity to work directly with both of them. For the first 10 years in network marketing, I was a miserable failure, because I didn't have a mentor and thus, didn't know what I was doing. Then I had a series of outstanding mentors who taught me things like quit trying to make a million dollars. Go out instead to make a million friends. I'm thankful to those mentors, because they played a huge part is my massive success years later. I'm living a life of time and financial freedom because of them.
I'm thankful to all the internet gurus out there who share free videos - people like Frank Kern, Jason Johnson, Eben Pagan, and others. I'm thankful to guys like Mike Dillard who paved the way with funded business proposals and social networking for network marketers. It has allowed people like me to glean from their knowledge and build my own funded business proposal - The 2 Percent Plan. The great part is that Mike helped my partner and I with this project - that's the kind of guy he is.
I spent a number of years in the corporate world and never received any mentorship. I ran a number of traditional businesses and never had a mentor. Yet, in network marketing their are great mentors upline, downline, sideline, all around. I'm thankful for that.
Keep looking for those mentors, listen to what they say, and then do it.
Have an awesome day!
