In network marketing, you offer two things - a good product and a good opportunity. You being both a distributor and a recruiter, have two ways in which to increase your earnings, that is to sell and to recruit. When you undergo training to become part of a network marketing company you are taught primarily to lead with the opportunity. However, there are many reasons why you should go against the grain and lead with the product. Here are several reasons to lead with the product instead of the opportunity.
It Builds Credibility
When you lead with the product, you build credibility. How so you ask? Well, there have been so many network marketing frauds throughout the years that when you lead with the opportunity, all people hear are how easy it is to get rich and make tons of money - and people are tired of this. When you lead with the product, you built trust in the product, and if the person likes it, may want to join the network, but on the merits of the product.
Increased Retention Rate
When you lead with the product, people join you because of the merits of the product. If it is a good product, people will come back for more. The more they get from you, the more money you have. The more they like it, the more they will be likely to join the network. This is less likely to happen if you don't lead with the product.
Other Opportunities
The fact of the matter is there will always be some other opportunity that offers better returns. If you lead with the opportunity and not lead with the product, chances are some clients will write you off as just another peddler of fallacies and half truths (as others view the networking industry). This is not to badmouth you or your company - it is simply a fact - there's ALWAYS something that will pay more out there.
Greed Removed from the Equation
When you lead with the product, you remove greed from the equation. Why do we say this? When you lead with the opportunity, chances are some people will be more interested in the money and earning potential. Their prime motivation then will be greed. When you lead with the product, people get to know the product first, and will be better representatives for the product.
It is easier to lead with the product
Plus, the truth of the matter is it is easier to lead with the product. People accept you into their homes more readily. People will listen more intently, people will be more curious to try the product. And this will only happen if you lead with the product.
If you think about it, it makes perfect sense, our job is to move product - so why not lead with the product in the first place. In the end, it's up to you, lead with the opportunity or lead with the product. It's your choice.
