You Are What You Think

Proverbs 23:7 in the Bible reads, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Napoleon Hill, in his epic Think and Grow Rich, wrote, "Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve" Norman Vincent Peale often said, "We tend to get what we expect" Albert Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge" Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "We become what we think about all day long". Are you getting the concept - you are what you think.

In his epic recording The Strangest Secret, Earl Nightingale said that the strangest secret is that we become what we think about most. A young man once heard this and asked if he was going to become a beautiful woman (as that was what he thought about most). This, of course, is not what Mr. Nightingale meant, rather that what you put into your mind will dictate your outcome. Wow! So, what he was saying is that where I am in my life is completely due to what I put in my mind? Yes! We know this because there are many people who have been born into abject poverty and yet have risen to tremendous financial success, as have there been people born into incredible wealth, who have lived a life filled with failure and misery. What was the difference? What they thought about.

So, what have you been thinking about? Do you have a written plan for your business, with specific goals and objectives? Do your thoughts revolve around the success of your business and achieving your goals or are you thinking about past failures or your current circumstances? Remember you become what you think about most. If you are thinking about failures, that is what you will become. You see, thoughts are seeds and your mind is a garden. If you are planting bad seeds, you will end up with a garden full of weeds. However, if you plant positive seeds, your garden will be full of beautiful successes. Your future is dependent on the seeds you plant.

The Bible teaches us to take every thought captive. This is one of the biggest keys to your success in network marketing - when thoughts come into your mind, stop for a moment and determine if they are bad or good seeds. If bad, reject them. If good, accept them. How you handle your thoughts will dictate the future circumstances in your life. So, if you don't like where you are in life or if you would like a better life, check your thoughts.

Now, I want you to understand that your thoughts alone cannot change your future, rather that is the start. Once you get in the habit of thinking positive, forward thinking thoughts, your mind and body with respond with the appropriate actions. For example, let's say you start thinking about moving up to the next level in your company. You work with your sponsor or an upline leader to create a plan of action and that's what your mind begins to focus on. From that your mind will form ideas for how to accomplish your goal and your body will move into action. This is another key spot, because if you allow fear (a big bad seed) to enter your mind, it will stop the necessary actions and you will not achieve your goal. However, if you reject fear and maintain only positive thoughts, you will move toward and achieve your goals.

It's time to check your thinking and get focused on thoughts that will enable you to move up the ranks to total time and financial freedom.

Thank You For Your Core Insights :-)

Yes, indeed, our Self creates our reality. Like a magnet attracting towards us exactly what we (already) are. We are constantly designing our own self by the thoughts and feelings we choose. Thank you, Rod, for sharing your core insights. Very valuable. All blessings, all success  *INGO* :-)

Beautiful thoughts indeed

This is pure knowlegde. Ancient Wisdom. That is exactly what we all people in this beautiful world should remember in order to be succesful. Everyone is starting to learn about it and this is the moment. It is time for us to create our own experiences. You want to be Rich? So be it? What is stopping you? Your Past? Your Addictions? To create reality means loving yourself, manifesting your dreams in this world. The Law of Attraction which stablish all this methodology of Attraction Marketing represents the consecuence of your thoughts, what you are attracting. You want to get lots of money? Just keep thinking about it and more of the same thoughts will going to start being attracted to you, and there is when creativity begins, creation begins. Because it is an attraction, both sides attract to each other, like magnetism. In order to be real, You will make a desition followed by an action based on a thought. This mean that you will be attracted to your own reality, to each experience in your life. You want to be rich? what do you think about it? Is it posible? You want to have your financial freedom? What are you doing for it? Just let everything flow like the river does, always in constant movement. The less resistance you put, the faster the experience will come to you, because your attraction is so strong.

This may sound very Philosophical but it is what life is about. Isn't that Philosophy is the mother of all science? Isn't That all science are responsible of explaning the reality?

Beautiful thoughts indeed shared by a Mastermind who knows what life is about. My entire gratitude for these words.

Fear Is Healthy

I'm sorry but I'd have to disagree that you must think happy positive thoughts and disregard all other thoughts... let me explain why:

Each and every thought can be broken up into either being healthy or unhealthy, and mature or immature... we all possess these thoughts whether we like it or not... if we disregard and neglect a certain thought... then it is locked in the basement where it brews to become unhealthier and even more immature and present itself through dysfunctional and covert tactics.

Once you learn to embrace each and every thought as being you... then you are truly liberated because you don't have to force any happy thoughts... they're there even when you're sad because you've transcended away from your old and dysfunctional belief systems.

Believe me... you will see the world in a new light... and you will see things you have never seen... and you will thank yourself every day and be amazed at how beautiful the world really is.

All emotions are from God, but how we respond is up to us.

I'm a follower of the scriptures, but I have to agree with much of Oz Lat's entry. There is danger in trying to fix everything with a positive bandaide if we don't deal with the reality of what might be causing the negativity in the first place.

Without rooting out the source of our emotional disfunction and the twisted causes of our thinking patterns, those thoughts will always resurface and we will be fighting them, or pretending to be positive instead of being honest. We can only be honest when we are willing to see ourselves as God does: both good and bad, but with the freedom to choose to do what's best. If we are constantly "trying to be positive" we are not free.

Using a set of scripts to overcome patterns of thinking is effective, and the scriptures - if used daily and repeated- can do that. Other thought pattern changes using NLP or scripts in Shad Helmstetter's book "What To Say When You Talk to Yourself" can produce results, but never the same freedom that comes from taking the time to dig deep and deal with the source of whatever disfunction slows down your growth process.

If you are lucky enough to have received unconditional love and encouragement, then no matter what your background, you will do well. Some even overcome poor emotional beginnings, but it has nothing to do with wealth or poverty and everything to do with experiencing a sense of self-worth. God's love is a message of our great worth to Him, and has the ability to propel people to levels they would never have reached otherwise. But scripture without the message of love behind them are pretty empty and don't do the job in my opinion.

(Rod, I know that's not how you meant it.)

Response to the last two comments

Hi Oz and Betty,

Your comments are well received and I agree that we can't move forward in our network marketing businesses without action. That is exactly why I said that changing your thinking was just the first step. The actions must then line up with that. For example, it doesn't really matter what a person is thinking if they don't move into action. However, keep in mind that thoughts are the first step and actions follow. I've worked with tens of thousands of network marketers over the last 30 years and I can tell you for a fact that if they have stinkin thinkin, their business is going no where. So, the first step is always their thoughts, next is to use those positive thoughts into action. For example, if I'm thinking that the phone calls I'm about to make are going to be successful - that people are going to be happy to hear from me and open to what I have to say - then it will be a heck of a lot easier to make those calls, then if I'm thinking that people are going to be mad at me and hang up. I hope you're getting the point here. Don't get too wrapped up in the psychological analysis of it all. The scripture tells us to take thoughts captive and it tells us to be doers of the Word, so clearly thoughts and actions are both important in network marketing and all the rest of life. Hope this helps clear things up.

Blessings,

Rod
