Attitude of Gratitude
I've got a rubber band around my wrist.
So does my mentor.
So does her mentor.
And... so does the Number One earner in our company.
It reminds us of something.. something very important.
It doesn't matter who you are, or what you do for a living. You cannot possibly receive riches and blessings and expect to keep them or receive more if you're not grateful for them.
You need the Attitude of Gratitude.
It's a prerequisite to receiving more. If you want to check it - just to see if I'm crazy, try being grumpy for a few days and see how many more 'things' you get that you'll be grateful for.
Or maybe you're already grumpy most of the time - you know like, "Man, I wish we had a nicer house." or "All I want is just a couple more hundred bucks!" or "How come they seem to have all the luck??"
I call it Stinkin' Thinkin'.
Drop it already! Try being grateful for what you have. You'll find that almost immediately, you'll be taking better care of what you have (because you're thankful for it)... then when you're showing your business plan to prospects, or talking on the phone with business partners, (just like you were when you had Stinkin' Thinkin') you'll be doing those things in that Certain Way that produces results.
Now is it just that simple? Sorry, nope.... it may take practice.
Especially if you're well practiced in Stinkin' Thinkin'.
That's why the rubber bands are there.
Every time we have a thought that doesn't display that Attitude of Gratitude - we snap that rubber band on our wrist. It's kinda goofy, I guess.. but it's a friendly reminder that to receive more quality time, more relationships, more riches, the Attitude of Gratitude is the demonstration of our worthiness.
And I'd rather be goofy in this state of mind than cool and wishing for more in my life.
Think of your kids... they like rubber bands... teach them the same thing! That's what I've done! My three-year old even runs up to me sometimes to snap my rubber band if I say something or do something that doesn't show that beautiful Attitude of Gratitude.
Here's to the Attitude of Gratitude!
Disclaimer:
Your wrist may get a little red... but that red wrist is part of the process in practicing the new thinking.
And the coolest thing is, the more you practice something, the easier it gets.
