7 Ways To Build Your Business While Working a J.O.B.

Over the years many distributors have told me that they don't have time to build their business, they have to work full time. I say, "That's wonderful. You have many opportunities throughout the day to promote your business." I like the way Jim Rohn puts it: "Right now I'm working full time on my job and part time on my fortune."

Have your "30 second commercial" or "elevator speech" ready and go walking and talking. There are prospects all around you wherever you go.

1. Get your business cards made up and CARRY THEM WITH YOU. I don't know how many times I have talked to business people who don't have a business card on them. Even at the company conventions I am amazed when it comes to exchanging contact info, many distributors don't carry business cards. There are many opportunities to give your business card.

2. Be prepared with some brochures or other materials to share if you find someone who is interested. Keep an extra supply in the car. DO NOT FORGET to put your contact info, including your web site address on anything you give out. Don't just carry these items with you, make good use of them, which leads me to the third tip.

3. Decide how many brochures, flyers business cards or drop cards you will pass out every day, then be ALERT to any opportunities that arise.

4. Create opportunities by displaying brochures or product on your desk or somewhere that can be seen. You can also create opportunities by wearing clothes, hats or pins with company logo or product slogans. Or, if your company offers coffee mugs or other items that stir interest, USE THEM whenever you can at your job.

5. Use products in front of people. If you have a healthy juice beverage, have the bottle on your desk with juice in it. You could share a bit with coworkers. That is a great way to sample. Make sure you have brochures with your web site on it to give if you find interest.

6. Make up flyers about some of the products or the business. I like to make up postcard size flyers on Vista Print.

7. Tear sheets can be put up on bulletin boards around town. People tear off the phone number tabs at the bottom if they want more information. You should check from time to time and see if the tearsheets need to be replaced when people have removed all the tabs.

I hope some of these ideas are helpful.
