If Social Media is the “Party”…

By now, most of us have learned the “right” way to use Social Media to promote our businesses. We understand that sites like this one are large gatherings where we can meet new people, get to know a little bit about  them, and decide whether or not we’d like to pursue a  relationship...a friendship...with them.

 When we do, we want them to come hang out for awhile with us at our place... just like when someone stops by our house...

 “Come on in and make yourself at home.

 That’s where we interact on a more intimate level. 

 A BLOG??

 Yup...a blog!!

 I mean, everybody expects you to have one...And how can you get anywhere in this industry without one?

I’m not telling you anything that you don’t already know... 

Truth be known, you’ve actually done a lot of thinking about it 

Even run all over the Internet trying to find a way to get a good one.

 Besides, all the “big guys” are into outsourcing these days and you're "supposed to" think, look and act like one of them, right?

 So you found some guy on Twitter who said he'd be happy to put one together for you…for a price.

 But it’s junk! 

 Not only that, you can never seem to reach him to make the changes that you want…

 Then there’s this kid in Tulsa that a friend recommended…Maybe he…....

 COME ON!!

 You got into this business to MAKE money, didn’t you? 

Then why is it that everyone is trying to get you to SPEND it??

 I have a secret...

 YOU can do it yourself for FREE!!!!!

 But I don’t know HOW, Cathie!

 Look...I understand.

 4 months ago, I didn’t know much more than how to upload my grandbabies' pictures to my FaceBook page.  Now I have two blogs on Blogger and decided to teach myself how to put together a blog using WordPress.

 Why bother?

 For starters, I don't want someone else controlling my business.  I can learn what I need to know.  You see, the new decade will be upon us before we know it and I want to be ready!

 Plus...

 Several people I respect have said WordPress is the way to go for self-hosting, and while I’m not ready to self-host just yet, it’s important to me to learn the WordPress platform (it’s more technical than some of the others).

 So what, you ask, has all of that got to do with You?

 Good question! :)

 I’m inviting you to watch and learn with me.

 Stand “over my shoulder” as I get this thing figured out.

 The cool thing is that it’s interactive…you can ask questions or make comments on the blog!

 Who knows?  You may even help me figure something out!
