Are We Getting TOO PERSONAL In Our Autoresponders?

Autoresponders – those automated emails all of us receive on a daily basis — are absolutely essential tools for every Internet or Network Marketer.  Having your own set of autoresponders provides you with tremendous flexibility.

You can set up any number of followup emails that can go out to your list any time you specify.  You can send out Broadcasts to your list when you want them to see an offer or an announcement right at the moment.

And you can PERSONALIZE your emails.

You can personalize at many points of your email:

The Heading:  Bob, This Offer is Specifically For You!

The Greeting:  Hey Bob!

The Body of the Email:  Ok, Bob… It’s Your Turn to Act!

I won’t argue that Personalization has it’s merits.  It can absolutely be effective in making an email seem warm and fuzzy.

But when is enough enough?

Lately, personalization of emails has started to get downright ANNOYING.

My take on this?

Personalization is being WAY OVERUSED by marketers who must think that people on their list are MORONS.

Seeing my name in an email doesn’t impress me anymore.  In fact, I pretty much know that when I see personalization in an email, it’s an autoresponder email.

Who’s kidding who?

Is it just me, or has Personalization just gotten plain old phony?

What do YOU think?

To your success!

Yes, I get what you mean mate. True..

I think you got something here mate. Yes, I have unsubscribed to so many because they use my name about 10 times in their email. Just once or twice will do.

if someone uses my name on first line, then cool. But again and agan, and again, when I know myself, it takes one click to put {first!name..}, code there.

The way I see it, it's simple. How do you we talk to our friends. How do we talk to people.

We do say, "hey how you doing Bob."

What we don't say is..

"Hey Bob! How you doing Bob? And how's life Bob, and do you know..Bob, the way life is..Bob, and how it is sunny outside..Bob, and...Bob, and..Bob and waheeeeeeeeeeeehaaa...Bob.."

Now, whenI see emails like that, I know this dude is either on crack or email articles is new and he or she is impressed with the gadgets they got to code in my name LOL!

So, I write emails that is personalised, but here's what I do. I remind myself on how I would talk to anyone else.

I use their name in begining..once and maybe, just maybe, I use their name at end but that's it. I hardly ever use their name at bottom. Once in a while.

I really get personal in the story of the email, the way I write not their name. That's where it's at, hitting on their emotional needs, taking them on journey, revealing and for them to say..

"YES! WOW! That's how I feel!"

Or, "Yes, I went through this too and I am looking for a solution.."

And, "Hey this dude isn't bashing me with selling, I like this guy. I will keep reading what he's got.."

Because we don't talk like that. We don't say..

Hey Bob, how you doing Bob, well Bob, I have some a confession bob.."

And bob will think..

"Jeesh, he's needy. He keeps using my name on every sentence like some parrot who is so hungry for a sale...."

So balance is key. Just name in begining will do..

"Hi Bob, it's Adam here from (link)..."

Then when email is done, then right at bottom

You can find all the training here

That's it. Sorted. So thumbs up vote for me. Good article, conscise. Thanks for sharing.
