OK,
In my 10+ years online and as a webmaster this is a first....
These jack asses actually had the nerve to send me to collections (9 separate instances) for domains that I chose not to renew and let expire!
Can you believe that shit!
Seriously, this is a fist for me.
Renewing a domain is a 100% completely voluntary act.
Of course the idiots at the collection agency are fighting hard for that $9 and won't close the case.... all 9 of them.
So consider yourself WARNED..... DO NOT USE 1and1.com for anything!

That is absolutely absurd. Sounds like they are very desperate for business to resort to such tactics. I almost always use GoDaddy for domain registration and HostGator for my personal hosting and have never had any problems with either of them.
If I were to not renew my registration with GoDaddy, all that would happen is they send me emails reminding me that my registration has expired and I believe they give you up to 30 days to renew it before it actually gets canceled. My hosting with HostGator if I am late on a payment they have given me about 7-10 days before they actually slap me with a late fee.
Thanks for the heads up and will keep that in mind when referring others to domain registrations & web hosting companies.
