Turn Your Problems Into Opportunities Or Suffer Like A Dog
Here is a word picture of turning a problem into an opportunity. A kid who is an excellent student in high school and is the star of the basketball team, track team and football team is forced to drop out of highschool because his parents ask him to work in their auto shop due to the fact that they can not afford another good mechanic besides him. At first the student is upset because he thinks that if he does not follow his coaches advise to go to school and finish it up then he will not make a difference. But then after a few months working he meets the love of his life after talking to her about 20 minutes or so.
A kid jumps off the stairs in a private school. His mother is very unhappy because the son will not think that he will become successful and is forced to send him to public school. The first year in public school the teacher does not like him. But the next year he gets sent to the resource room and his test scores in math and reading improve. Since the kid is in public school he learns to become street wise knowing what to say and what not to say. It prepares him for the real world of adulthood, where the world is cold and cruel. Where as in the private school the kid is secluded from everything and becomes snotty and thinking if people are not like him they do not mean a thing.
The fact of the matter is this. It is a bonus to have the nice car, the boat, the nice house with a beautiful garden outside, but it is not a necessity. You do not become happy by trying to Keep Up With The Joneses. You get into massive debt.
So before making any decisions in life ask yourself these questions. Is this necessary or can I delay the gratification for something better and less stress free? If you can delay the gratification it will remove the stress off your shoulder, people will see it in you and you will have more meaningful conversations of thoughts and ideas then if you had just thrown your cash into trash. Remember this: The lower the tension the higher the cooperation. When the cooperation is higher, the stress level is lower.
