The iPad Do We Really Need It?

I have been following with interest the launch of the Apple iPad. So far it just appears to be another non-useful gadget.
Essentially the iPad "fills the gap" in between smartphones and laptops.
One question remains to be answered, is there a need for a device to bridge the gap in between the two technologies?
Some questions raised already are: there is a microphone but no webcam for video conferencing, has low battery life (only 10 hours), no Flash or Java and no UBS connection facility available.
One complaint raised already is that the device does not allow multi-tasking. This means that if you're writing a document you can't listen to music.
I feel at this stage it Apple’s iPad is an entertainment device, not an obvious business tool.
Only time will tell if Apple's iPad will be a success or an iFlop.

The jury is still out for me at this stage. What about you?

i wouldn't consider it to be anything that is for business use
the iPad
You are so right. I had a discussion with some business owners here, at my house, over the weekend and we all agreed it was a toy. It will be interesting to see how long it sticks around
