Is is Possible to Live a Life with No Regrets? A Leadership lesson

Here's a pretty good leadership advice lesson for you today. Is it possible to live a life of regret?

My answer is no. Why?

It's because if we have never had any regrets then we must have lived a perfect life, so far. It means that we live in a perfect world, do the perfect deeds, say the perfect thing, or even surround ourselves with the perfect people. We all know this never happens.

There are 2 kinds of regret. There is the regret of ACTION and the regret of INACTION. People either regret doing or saying something they shouldn't have or regret not doing or saying something they should have. Either way, these 2 kinds of regret brings about an understanding of what happened as a consequence from our mistakes or hesitations.

Let's look at the population of people who regret because of INACTION. These are the people that always say "what if", "if only", or "what might have been". The way I see it, these people give up their dreams and "die". They can "die" at age 32 and live to be 82. Once their dreams are dead, so are they.

Then this begins the mindset of never pulling their trigger when another opportunity comes knocking. They don't hear the knocking, they continue to pass each and every door and never open one. They attempt to drive down a road while always looking back in the rear view mirror.

How about the people who regret because of ACTION? These people know that you can only live in today. They use words like "But Now". They give their attention to what is going on now. They don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow, because people that learn from the actions they take, know how to deal with whatever may come up when the time comes.

They know that's why our eyes were put on the front of our head and not the back. People that learn from the disappoints from the actions they took know how to prevent future disappointments by learning from the little lessons that present themselves.

People in this category know that when opportunities that don't come knocking, they are the ones going out and knocking on the doors themselves. They know that you can't rebuild your past, but you can rebuild your future and it starts today!

So whatever the consequence may be from your actions or or inactions, remember this: You can either change your mind to live, or change your mind to die! I appreciate your time!
