SMART
If you simply sit and focus on something you’d like to do but make absolutely no move to do it, it won’t happen! Your focus is there, but the action is not. However, when you are focused and disciplined, the focus comes first, and then directs the action.
S.M.A.R.T.
Part of your strategy is to break your goals into manageable steps. Use this acronym to help you make sure each step is actually part of the goal on which you are aiming.
Is the step:
Specific—Are the objectives specific
Measurable—Are the objectives measurable?
Action Oriented—Are the objectives written with an action verb?
Realistic & Reasonable—Are the objectives realistic, attainable and reasonable?
Time Bound—Are the objectives written with an expected delivery date?
By writing each step to conform to these criteria, you are making your strategy into an action plan.
