Recruiter or Sponsor? ...which do you consider YOURSELF?
From my "meager" 8 years of experience in the "Network Marketing" field, it took me a while to realize the difference between a "recruiter" and a "sponsor". For the longest time, I thought these "titles" were as interchangable "customer" and "client". For this reason, it didn't bother me when I was referred to as a "recruiter" or a "sponsor"....until recently.
Based on some informaiton I've recently come across, I'd like to share "my opinion" between the two "titles".
A "Recruiter" tends to focus on the number of people he/she can come in contact with in order to meet their personal "quota". If they run into someone who is a "no", they say to themselves, "That's okay, now I'm one step closer to a YES!". I've also noticed that the many "recruiters" I've encountered through the years, tend to behave a lot like "Sales People", meaning they perfer not to become personally "involved" in their customers by creating any type of "relationship" with them. I've also found that "recruiters" are similar to "sales people" in that they tend to adopt the same philosophy..
"Some Will, Some Won't, So What?!.... NEXT!"
**Having much experience in sales, I know this is done to remind the "sales person" that the rejection wasn't directed toward the "sales person" personally, it was the "product" or "opportunity" that the "customer" was rejecting.
A "Sponsor", tends to focus on the "personal" aspect of the potential "customer". For this reason, they are much more likely to take "rejection" personal, rather than place the blame on someone or something else. I've also noticed when someone takes on the "title" of "sponsor", they tend to look at each "potential customer" or "personal prospect" as a personal investment in their own future, because of what they could possibly do for each other. I've noticed that a "sponsor", more often than not, will attempt to achieve their goals by creating a "relationship" with their potential customers prior to their actual purchase or participation in a business transaction by offering a valuable "service" of some kind. I feel a sponsor's philosophy lies closer to that of a "customer service rep."
"How can I earn your business, so you'll keep coming back?"
...So now that I've shared how *I understand* the difference between what *I think* a "recruiter" is compared to what a "sponsor" is, I have something for YOU to share with us...
- Which do you think will grow a more profitable business? Why?
- Which do you think will make a more effective leader? Why?
