This ONE Secret Has Been The Difference Maker For Successful People!
Over the last few months, I've received a number of calls from business partners and friends who oversee others at their jobs asking, "how do you inspire people."
This question is relevant in ALL industries! I own a leveraged-base business that allows me to benefit from the efforts of others in addition to my own efforts. This question applies to anyone in a supervisory role, people who work as a part of a team, or any other business ownership role where others work for you. So the content of this article is relevant to almost everyone!
Here's the deal: There's only one way to get anyone to do anything...and that's by creating an environment that makes them see the value, feel a sense of purpose, and want to do it for themselves. The art of creating this environment is called LEADERSHIP!
In today's economy, leadership is a very critical trait IF you're goal is the thrive and excel in an environment where other people are a part of what you're doing. More people today are listless, express feelings of hopelessness, and fear that the job and income they have could be taken away as a result of the struggles that corporate american and the government are having. This mindset doesn't lend itself to excellence. What I see daily is that most people ONLY care about surviving and thoughts like abundant lifestyle, success and financial freedom aren't in most peoples vocabularies anymore.
So how do you change a persons psyche to get the desired result?
As a leader who has a big-picture vision and can see the end result, the way to get others to move in your direction is to recognize people, include them, encourage them, train them, ask their opinions, praise progress, let them make decisions, share the glory with them, seek their advice and follow it when you can, make them understand how valuable they are to you, encourage them to take risks, give them the freedom to work as they see fit, and convey your beliefs in their abilities by getting out of the way.
These actions are designed to delve into the main core wants and needs of an individual, with the main need being the desire to be great or important. So the way to do that is by including people in all parts of the process!
True leadership takes place when you've created an environment where people develop the confidence in themselves to execute and become a part of a bigger vision, of a bigger goal, of a bigger dream. How big is your vision? It's on up YOU, as a leader, to communicate your vision, work on your vision, and have a big enough vision to wrap others up in it so that the focus is on magnifying the efforts and results for ALL long-term.
People don't care how much you know until they know that you care!
Everyone makes a decision on who they choose to follow and whose vision they choose to believe in. As a prospective leader, the only choice YOU have is whether or not you're going to be that person that someone chooses to follow.
So how do you prepare youself to be that person that people gravitate to?
You have to do it first! Do the thing you want other people to do. Be the person you want others to become. Step up to the plate and execute! If you want people to show up, then you consistently show up. How can you expect someone to lay it on the line for the vision you put out there if you're not putting it on the line for the vision you set for yourself.
If you have a burning desire to create something special and learn the value of harnassing it and then taking that passion and using it in a selfless way to consistently be out front and convey that to others, you're vision will be seen and realized by the masses. But you have to be the first believer in you and be non-negotiable in your vision!
