“G” is for Geek: How a MLM Biz Builder Can Become the Authority Others Will Follow

Hello friends, Collette G here, with a frank admission. The "G" in my name stands for "geek"… as evidenced by the

following signs and symptoms:

You know you're a geek when…

  •  You arrange to get internet access no matter where you go.
  •  You design detailed floor plans before moving all of your furniture around.
  •  You get depressed when you get less than 10 e-mail messages a day.
  •  Your patterns of sleep are no longer irrevocably linked with nighttime.
  •  You write web pages about your web pages.
  •  Your favorite part of Geometry class was proving theorems.
  •  You know the common language of Norway is Nynorsk.

Guilty on all counts.

Furthermore, I like the sideways glances I get when I can rattle off answers to Jeopardy questions.

I live for the puzzled stares as I explain why even though the cuisine at Luigi's in Phnom Penh, Cambodia is Italian, the menu is actually written in French.

I even enjoy the occasional, "Collette, let me borrow your brain for a minute," when companions inquire about the spelling of "ambassador" (no not one "e"), the definition of "aubergine" (the color and the veggie) or the leader of Germany during the first World War (a Kaiser is not just a roll).

If you're anything like me you've looked ahead to the ever-elusive day when your traits would crossover to
mainstream and even be considered "cool." But, what if that day never materializes?

So, what! If you're a geek, embrace it.

It's not a curse. It's your calling. Work with it.

You should also find out what kind of geek you are. There are probably much more than 31 flavors of geekdom to explore. I, myself, am a geek with a double major in trivial information and language arts with a minor in internet marketing.

That's why I follow Seth Godin. He is the godfather of permission marketing. In addition to the book Permission Marketing, he has penned such marketing classics as Unleashing the Ideavirus, All Marketers are Liars, and Purple Cow.

His current book Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us, released this month, describes "tribes" as groups of people aligned around an idea, connected to a leader and to each other.

According to Godin, leading a tribe is all about engaging people, building community and identity, creating connections and participation.

And he practices what he preaches. Godin, the founder and CEO of Squidoo, has inspired Triiibes (no it's not a typo, that is how they spell it) the online community, which has been gaining momentum even before the book was officially released. He has also been engaging folks by hosting a huge kick-off for the publication on October 22 (my birthday) in New York, NY (one of my favorite cities).

So, if you're a geek, whatever the flavor, just be yourself and give yourself to the tribe that appreciates who you are. If you're providing value to that community, pretty soon you'll command a following.

Maybe that's why I've embraced the modus operandi of web 2.0 networking so whole heartedly. This is my quest to connect with the rest of my tribe. I know you're out there. I've been discovering you, one geek at a time, in forums like these.

Are you finding your tribe in the social networks in which you roam both online and offline? (Yes, Computer Geek, there are offline places to socialize.)

If your tribe is into creating generational wealth by building an MLM business online... You don't have to be a computer geek to become an internet marketing authority.

I'm no computer geek and struggled for years in this industry before I found the first ever, self-branded, fully customizable, attraction marketing system that helped me build my MLM biz the right way.

Go to www.MLMBizBuilderPro.com and take advantage of free training that shows you how today's MLM groupies are becoming leaders of their own tribe of wealth creators.

To your prosperity,

Collette G
