The Internet, Duplication & MLM

The internet has opened up a new world to many especially in the Network Marketing area.  It is interesting to see what is happening, what is changing and what is yet to come on the web.  Yet, some of it isn’t so great on how it can impact us in this profession.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a big proponent of social sites like Facebook, My Space, Twitter, Better Networker and I see them as great additional aspects for the business.

They are great for

-  meeting new people and expanding your warm & cold market

-  staying in touch with friends and finding old ones

-  staying in touch with your team

-  opening up communication across distances

BUT………

We have to remember that the internet is another tool to incorporate into our business.  The basics of Network Marketing is still the same, it’s about creating  true relationships and duplication.

What is the definition of true duplication?

Getting a large group of people, to do a few simple things consistently over a long period of time.

Therefore, if you are using the internet to

-  spam people

-  post your links everywhere & use safelists

-  buy leads or e-mail lists

-  build a custom website or blog

- create an auto responder program

-  create a niche market or become the ‘guru’

- learn Search Engine Optimization or key words

-  learn Pay Per Click advertising

Then are you really creating duplication in your business?

Where is your focus, on learning these tactics or on your business?

You still need to be doing and using the other things that have worked for many years in the profession, like picking up the phone and talking with people, building relationships, meetings, 3 ways and so on.

Ask yourself this question “Is what I am doing duplicatable’? or  ‘Will the people I spsonsor into my business be willing or have the time to do what I am doing’?  If the answers are no, then get back to the basics and dp what works to be able to create duplication.
