Time .. It is Not on My Side!
I heard I believe to be a Rolling Stones tune that went something like.................
Time, it's on my side, yes it is!! I believe it started off something like that.
If you think time is on your side, you better think again.
We only have so much of it.
It is a precise commodity. We need to be able to manage our time better.
We need to accomplish more in a short period of time if we want to accomplish the things in life that really mean something to us.
Time your families, friends, things that mean a lot to you.
Find a way to make more free time for those things that are very special to you.
You never want to look back and say "did I give enough time to the things, people that meant something to me."
Make time for them.
Make time on your side.
Best,
Dan S.
Time is not on your side, but can be if you know how to use it wisely, and set about your day in a very organized and goal orientated fashion.

Geez, I hope you don't think I'm stalking you...
But I just caught your blog post and thought, hey, we're on the same wavelength :)
When people ask me what my biggest obstacle is, my answer is always the same: Time.
There are so many equally important things that require a piece of my time: my health, my self, my relationships, my business, my knowledge, my community. Below is a list of everything I strive to touch EVERY DAY.
Health - diet and exercise.
Self - Enjoying life, having fun, travel, adventure.
Relationships - spouse, kids, family, business associates, friends
Business - vision, systems, people, investments, long-term plans
Knowledge - self-improvement, leadership, relationships, marketing
Community - give back, sharing knowledge, donations
I tell you, it's HARD. It's very very easy for me to tell myself to just skip the workout, or skip that night out at the movies, or let my husband read to the kids tonight without me... But for me, neglecting those things in not an option. Neglecting them limits my ability to get everything I want out of life.
So.. How can I build an EMPIRE under these demands and time constraints?
I am now striving to spend at least one hour EVERY DAY in each of the six areas. Within each category, I focus on the things that will make the biggest difference. For example, in the knowledge category... There are so many places I can go to to obtain information about self-improvement or marketing. But instead of randomly searching on Google or blindly navigating the internet, I need to go where I know I will receive the biggest impact. I'll go to my mentors, get on conference calls, read books by experts in their fields. Or in business, if I spend that hour focusing on the things that will make the biggest difference first, then I am forcing myself to do the necessary things first. Instead of reading emails for an hour, I'll tackle a difficult website implementation project that I'd much rather sweep under the rug. The good news is, this habit enables me to GROW.
I can't just go through the motions. I have to give each area my ALL, as if my life depended on it. Why? Because that way, I can stay focused on each task at hand. While I'm at the gym, I'm focused on the workout and not stressing about how I should be working. And while I'm working, I'm fully engaged in the work and not stressing about how I haven't exercised in a few days or whatever else.
I'm a work-in-progress. This has been hard for me to implement and make the "new habit." But I'm going for it!
