"How much money do you make?"
This was the best place I could find to putting this, but wanted to share that I've used Mike Dillards line for this statement several times and the discussion only got heated up one time in a strong dissagreement with the prospect.
He posed the question, 'How much money do you make?"
I responded, "Smith, it's really not about how much money I make. It's really about how much money you're going to make. You may start your business and do much worse than I have, you may do much better than I have or Smith, you may come in and do absolutely nothing at all and make zero money. What's your next question Smith?"
Well, he strongly disagreed with me and told me that it would be a good gage what I'm doing as opposed to what he would do. I strong disagreed back. We disagreed back and forth for a heated one, maybe two minutes, then he said, "So, you're not going to tell me how much money you make?" I said, "No Smith, I'm not. Do you have another question for me or are we done?"
He did have more questions. But, wanted to report in with my two cents worth about using this line. I like it, I use it, I make good money, but I'm not gonna say how much I make. I want to roll model how to answer that question for people who are asking me.
I'd love your feedback, in fact, I'm gonna start a blog post about this.

Great Point... I haven't had
Great Point...
I haven't had to argue this with anyone, because a lot of people don't have the tenacity to argue with someone they don't know, in real time. The funny thing, is that "Smith" actually reminds me of... well ME frankly- before I leap into something. I'm a big dreamer in the grander scale of things... but I also want numbers. I want facts, I do my diligience and I'm a researcher at heart. I don't "typically" leap when it comes to business, but I do take weighed out risks.
I think the great point here is, if you come across people like "Smith" or me.. well keep talking.. make those other points that Debbie made.. because eventually "Smith" can subscribe to the idea/the dream and if "Smith" believes in it enough, "Smith" will take accountability for it. These types of people then do know what they are getting themselves into, and they typically are self starters.
I really wouldn't be surprised if "Smith" ends up being one of your strongest downline if he subscribes..because- well he gets it. He gets the big picture (or he doesn't).
Kudos
