The Power of Your Subconscious Mind

I'm reading this book entitled The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy, and revised by Ian McMahan. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

On the one hand, I understand what Murphy is saying, but my Christian Spirit is wrestling with his belief system as it seems he has a twist on his interreptation of Scriptures. For example he refers to prayer as a relaxed state where we're not talking to Jesus or God, but rather visualize an outcome of something we desire and are using affirmations. He quotes Scriptures to back it up, however, it seems the Scriptures have been taken out of context with a spin to make his point.

My belief is that all powers come from the Living God and Jesus Christ. However, I acknowledge that we are created in His image and I do believe in the power of positive thinking. Ultimately however, I also believe that our prayers are answered according to not only our belief system but to the will of God.

As for the part where I understand what he's saying, I do grasp that the mind is a powerful force. He offers a tremendous amount of strategies for practicing and perfecting the art of the laws of attraction in all parts of our lives. These are strategies for healings pertaining to mental illness, physical illness, troubled marriages, finding the right partner, having material things, finding peace and joy, etc. Murphy describes in details how to do this, what to say, how often to say it and the instructions are simply laid out.

I like the idea of setting the stage in the moments before I go off to sleep where my subconscious mind can then work on the problem all night and find a solution. That really intrigues me. I've been practicing that this last week.
