Be Willing to Let Go of a Prospect

You know you are moving from an abundance mind-set from a scarcity mind-set when you can easily let go of prospects that don't fit with your team. I had to do that today.

When I first began doing network marketing, my "mistake" was putting too much energy into leads that weren't going to be of benefit to me or my team. Why? Because I was always taught as a child to "give people the benefit of the doubt". Well, sometimes that teaching doesn't help you or your team. Poor quality members actually drag down the energy of your team.

So, in other words, you will get "red flags" along the way when you are prospecting someone. It is better to be willing to let that person go and pay attention to those red flags, then to keep giving them chance after chance after chance to make up their minds. You're not needy. Don't be needy. Be willing to drop anyone who doesn't do what they say they are going to do.

One thing I learned from my teacher, multi-millionaire, T. Harv Eker - he only works with Warriors. So who are Warriors? Warriors are those who do what they say they are going to do - they follow through on their commitments. (see Enlightened Warrior Training Camp)

So I often give my prospects several small "tests" to see if they will follow through. If they show interest in my company, I ask them to do a few simple things and get their agreement to do so. If they can't even email me back a reply - that's an easy "red flag". If they email me back, then don't follow through on their small commitment - that's another "red flag". If they've done all the above, then miss an appointment or don't call to reschedule - that's another "red flag".

It can be very frustrating to work with people who aren't Warriors. Even though it might seem "unfriendly" to drop someone because they forgot an appointment, you'll be doing them and you a favor. Firstly, you won't be wastingyour energies training someone who doesn't have follow-through and commitment. Secondly, you'll be giving them the lesson that true leaders won't take just "anybody" - something they can possibly model.
